Corps, may come to fully control the gov but the gov will still control the people. As AI, 5G, and facial recognition becomes more powerful it will be easier for govs to control and monitor people. China is a very good example of this. The difference between US and China is in China, China has complete control of the corps, and y corp that dares to be more influential see their CEO jailed on corruption charges of some sort.
In USA, robots will become the police officers as well so all the guns the citizens have (to protect them from the government, cough) will be obsolete. I suppose citizens will make robots to fight the other robots but that's not feasible because the gov's a bility to monitor and predict citizens action will be better and easier to prevent an uprising, as it is in China now.
That's my 2 cents.
i understand that point of view, but several things are going to happen that will just short-circuit the line that the govern-cements are trying to run.
Such as the ice-age and food shortages.
Further, people demanding transparency in govern-cement.
Another piece is defense-tech is about to take a huge leap.
And it may be as big a divide as star-trek shields vs pop-guns
