English news:

Chinese state media downplays coronavirus as Xi strikes positive tone

"party media efforts are around showing resolve, action and competence"

--- There is no crisis! & BTW, just look how competent we commies are in fighting the crisis.

China coronavirus: Death toll rises as more cities restrict travel

"Scientists have revealed each infected person is passing the virus onto between 1.4 and 2.5 people."

--- Remember the chessboard thingy? Here they even estimate up to 4 people.

"Wuhan [...] is now rapidly building a new 1,000-bed hospital to deal with the increasing number of victims."

--- Well, hospital. They are building essentially a container camp. Considering the videos from Wuhan hospitals, 1000 more beds, won't really help much, either.

Coronavirus: China extends lockdown as first cases reported in Europe

"China has expanded an unprecedented lockdown [...] to 13 cities and at least 36 million people"

--- & probably still useless. People from Wuhan have gone to places all over China in recent weeks. With an incubation period of up to 2 weeks, we can expect a lot more cases.

"At least eight hospitals in the city made pleas for donations of masks, goggles, gowns and other protective medical gear."

--- Good luck with that. Even in Cantonese Shaoguan, face masks were already sold out 2 days ago.

"Facilities are reportedly running out of beds and diagnostic kits for patients who present with fever-like symptoms, which means many people do not know for sure if they have the virus."

--- Just go home. If you're still alive in 2 weeks, everything is fine.

Wuhan coronavirus lockdown: 'We've got enough food to last 10 days'

"he knew about the virus a month before official announcements"

--- That's China for you. But the WHO is enamored with the official PRC response.

Life under lockdown in China: hospital queues and empty streets

"reaching emergency wards is a struggle, following the shutdown of public transport in the city
[...] taxi drivers, fearing infection, are refusing to pick up patients from hospitals"

--- So much for the great organisational skills of the Chinese commies who are always prepared for all eventualities.

The Wuhan virus is the last thing China's economy needs right now

"Wright called the timing of the outbreak "especially unfortunate" given the Lunar New Year holiday."

--- Is it? Maybe it's the opposite. Except for the tourism industry, around Chinese new year, the whole economy comes to a standstill. Hence it is actually the best time such an emergency could strike. It depends on how long it lasts, though.

New coronavirus can cause infections with no symptoms and sicken otherwise healthy people, studies show

"the picture these two manuscripts paint is of a disease with a 3-6 day incubation period and insidious onset"

--- If the incubation period is only up to 6 days, that would be much better than what I heard before. But if the disease can be asymptomatic (infected, but no symptoms) & then possibly infectious, that would make it much worse.

Emperor Xi's NY speech fails to mention Wuhan virus

--- Because everything is under control, obviously.

Deutsche Nachrichten:
