English news:

China censors Thomas Piketty’s book that touches on nation’s growing inequality

"it has yet to be launched in the mainland due to demands from Piketty’s Chinese publisher, Citic Press Group, that all parts of the book related to inequality in China be cut"

--- Well, at least Piketty seems to be steadfast & refuses censorship. Good on him.

"it spends several pages talking about the party’s tolerance for rising inequality, the opacity of official data on income and wealth distribution, and the paradox between a socialist political system and a highly unequal society"

--- These are outrageous lies, of course. The CCP has only the people's best interest at heart & would never allow the existence of a capitalist ultra-rich elite. Never ever. Even the holy family of benevolent emperor Xi resists any temptation of well-deserved luxury & lives on one rice bowl per person per day.

"it is surprising that those who have benefited most from privatisation and economic liberalisation are allowed to pass all of their wealth on to their children without any tax"

--- Seriously, never understood nonsense like this. Theoretically (in China not necessarily in practice, though), this wealth has already been taxed when people earned it.

In authoritarian China, eating freely is a cherished activity. Now a food waste campaign wants to control meals, too

"between 2013 and 2015 China wasted about 18 million tons of food each year.
When China's huge population of 1.4 billion people is considered, that's better than some Western nations"

--- If you believe official Chinese numbers, that is. Anyway hard to compare, though. Food waste in megacities like Beijing is probably much worse than in any other country. While in some areas of the hinterland, there may be virtually no food waste at all. Because all the left-overs in restaurants are collected by farmers to feed them to the pigs.

"a district government in Harbin city, Heilongjiang province, had set up a "food waste exposure system" for government canteens, installing surveillance cameras near food collection bins into which workers scrape their leftovers.
Those caught on camera with food waste more than three times will be named and shamed"

--- As usual, the barbarians of the CCP trying to civilise China with medieval methods.

"Grain stores in China are "exceeding demand," according to the Communist Party mouthpiece People's Daily, which quoted one expert saying the priority is now "destocking" excess supplies"

--- Well, obviously. There is no shortage. The grain stores of the state are actually overflowing & need to be emptied so that they don't explode. The African swine fever & the floods actually increased the availability of food. All those food imports are just ... er ... uhm ... ah ... to help foreign economies overcome their pandemic troubles.

"For the general public, it is better to raise their awareness (on food waste) and change social customs through advocacy ... rather than compulsory measures"

--- Education?! This is ridiculous! Chinese don't need education, they just need emperor Xi & the CCP to tell them what to do.

Rampant Repression: up to 30,000 disappeared in China’s RSDL jails since 2013

"On average, every day this year, some 20 people will be disappeared in China by the state
[...] RSDL is essentially state-sanctioned kidnapping"

--- Oh, please! Benevolent emperor Xi is not a mafia boss. These people are put into the care of well-meaning, well-equipped state executives to learn about their mistakes. Under emperor Xi's direct supervision these evil offenders are formed into productive members of the perfect socialist society with Chinese characteristics.

China's new tech export controls could give Beijing a say in TikTok sale

"China’s Ministry of Commerce added 23 items - including technologies such as personal information push services based on data analysis and artificial intelligence interactive interface technology - to the restricted list"

--- Which means that TikTok either cannot be sold at all, or has to be sold without the most important algorithm at a much lower price than estimated.

"Beijing will defend the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese businesses"

--- Yep, defending their interests by forcing them to sell at a discount or not at all.

The colossal scale of China’s coronavirus censorship on WeChat

"Some of the blocked messages had originally been published by Chinese state media. In other words, while a person or topic may be freely discussed in the government-controlled press, it’s still banned on WeChat"

--- Freely discussed is the wrong terminology. In the press there is direct CCP control of content, hence actually no discussion at all. On WeChat on the other people might actually have varying opinions, possibly even - gasp! - critical of the CCP. WeChat simply can't have that.

"there isn’t a centralised list of keywords that every app and website is required to block in China"

--- Because they are expected to be as rigid as possible in their censorship.

Xi says China to step up efforts to fight 'splittism' in Tibet

"China must build an "impregnable fortress" to [...] educate the masses in the struggle against "splittism""

--- Translation: We need to build concentration camps like in Xinjian to effectively brainwash those stubborn Tibetans.

""plant the seeds of loving China in the depths of the hearts of every youth", Xi said"

--- ... if necessary with bullets.

News of Swiss Agreement Allowing Deportations to China Raises Concerns for Tibetans

"agreement between Switzerland and China allowing Chinese officials access to Chinese nationals applying for asylum
[...] The document, first signed in 2015 and never officially published,”"

--- You wonder why they didn't publish it if it is as innocuous as they claim.

"Asking Chinese officials to come to Switzerland to determine the identity of persons escaping persecution in China “is like asking a criminal to come and check to see if a victim is really a victim,”"

--- & then deporting them on advice of said criminal is like inviting the criminal to strike again.

Deutsche Nachrichten:
