Bitcoin is a great saving option on the long term and in this situation price doesn't matter at all anymore. Price is worth considering only when you look at it as a trade-able asset on short to midterm price swings, which is how I currently see it now. I don't see it yet as digital gold yet but I believe it has the potential to become. In my opinion it will become digital gold close to the time when the last Bitcoins will be mined. I also know that you have a well established dollar cost average strategy and I applause it. Sticking to a plan long term is something that I always admired but somehow never managed to achieve. Good analogy by the way you've made in the post with energy, money and BTC.

So you think it will take around 100 years for BTC to become digital gold (to get to the market cap of gold)?
I rather think a market cap of 7.5 trillion USD will be achieved within 5-10 years.
But - whatever will happen - I consider Bitcoin to be the greatest and most fascinating endeavor of our time :-)
I don't think it will take that much but I don't see it becoming such as in two or three years. There is still uncertainty around it and it doesn't have the popularity of gold, but it seems working its way towards that.
