Introduction
Welcome back to Maledicturs Terra. This is a Chain Story between myself and @lex-zaiya, meaning that we each write the parts alternatively.

Part 59
“Why did it attack us?” Magna asked. She was still struggling to breathe properly. Her nose was on fire. The stench of corrupted magic still hung heavily in the air. She was still standing before her uncle, her hands outstretched.
But the feral King had started to change once more. It was as though it was easier for him to change back to normal when she confronted him. Mortis was pleased that the combat the two of them had had bonded them together as it had.
Lucien crouched close to the fire on the stone floor. There did not seem to be any matter left and whatever had been in the vial was burning up. Nothing was left to stir out of the fire except a black powder. “I have been attempting to track down traces of these beings. They will lead us to the Sundered One. However, for some reason they have been avoiding me.”
“Really?” Adrian said sardonically and walked over to stand next to Lucien and pointed at the fire. “Are you saying there is no reason as to why they would avoid you?”
Lucien shrugged. “How could they possibly know?”
“I do not know.” Adrian said. “Perhaps they just know what you mean when you are near. Have you encountered them before? Did you kill those ones too?”
Lucien, apparently disgruntled at the youth’s tone became snappy. “I’ve never used that weapon on one before. We developed the weapon when we lost more than a hundred of my kin to putting one of these things down. Really, do not think that I would be un-subtle. I have a mind to…”
“Intent.”
Lucien looked away from Adrian and stared at Mortis. “What?”
Mortis’ glowing eyes narrowed on the inside of his help. “They can sense your intent. Possibly your nature as well. These are linked to the Sundered One. However, they are attrackted to something or someone within this room.”
“Human prey?” Lucien suggested.
“Perhaps.” Mortis said and then deliberately looked at Sebastian and Trix. “Or they wish to include the King in their corruption. To assimilate and establish.”
“It’s moving!”
Nearly every single person in the party threw up their hands, bearing a weapon or in defence. Magna instead hurried out into the large stone hallway, picking her way past the splintered wood.
Mortis realized what it was that that Magna meant and was the first to follow. The Blazeknights and Derric were on his heels. Trix, Sebastian and Adrian followed after a few seconds of blinking at one another.
Lucien stared at the pile of ash and pursed his lips. “The key to finding them was never with myself.” He started walking calmly towards the door. He would easily be able to catch up. “Perhaps the Sundered was always meant to be hidden from me. I wonder.”
The Lifedrinker left the room to follow the group of cursed individuals.
