One thing that cannot be denied, is that if you stick with Hive and get busy - that is engaged, involved, posting and commenting - that there will be a reward at the end of it!

This reward turns into something truly life-changing or life-saving!

Recently I reached over 5000HP! This was a glorious moment that was gained after working really hard to get there.

However, disaster struck and the real world demands its tithes.

I would like nothing more than staking and saving Hive and HBD until I have enough passive income to retire. Is that even possible? Well... technically it IS possible.

At very least, Hive can be used to generate a secondary income stream, a passive income stream AND/OR an emergency backup plan!

I shall be using Hive for the latter in the above statement: An Emergency backup plan!

I shall have to use all of my HBD, including what is in my Savings as well as 1x Power Down for my total HP amount. After that 1 week, I shall cancel the Powerdown and then I shall work super hard to regain my lost HP!

I shall start straight away by making this post a 100% powerup post!

I have 5006HP right now... and I just realized my mistake. I have just over 1000HP in delegations! I guess this means that I can only Power Down 3995HP making my 1/13th a result of 307.3HP...

I guess it shall have to do...

Right. I shall need to work as hard as I can to regain what needs to be used to survive.

Oh? Did I mention why?

No?

Well... my rent is going up and I need to very quickly start paying more rent than before plus pay a "top-up" on my deposit for the rental.

I also have additional pre-paid water and electricity bills and any small breakage costs me more than my budget is able to handle since I am quite a bit UNDER.

Additionally, I have asked for a raise so hold thumbs for me!

I have also made applications to pay less on certain fees.

So we shall see what I look like at the end of this upcoming week!

Good luck buddy! I hope you're able to use your HIVE savings and HP to shore up the real-world issues. That is, after all, part of what HIVE is here for!

Canada's crypto regulations are garbage so for now I'm also in the middle of a powerdown so that I can at the very least put what I've earned into BTC or CAD fiat. It sucks a bit that I'll have to start over, but I'm nervous about the way things are going here and I don't want to miss an opportunity to take profits because of dumb government regulations... so, oh well. I'm sure it won't be long and we'll both be back up at 5k+ HP!

Might just go for broke and do all of it. Or, all of it as of when I started 3 weeks ago - We'll see. I don't know if I want to completely power it all down or not but I've got a couple of months left to decide.

Ouch ! Good luck getting the raise at work, you deserve it.

While it's sad to have to power down, the way to look at it is that without Hive you'd have been in deep doo-doo, so all your hard work here has saved you the cost of borrowing to cover the increased costs.

Have you told the children yet that you'll be sending them down the mines to earn their keep ? 😁

Yeah man, they won't stop eating and stuff. It is a shame.

Yeah but in the end of the day, the Hive money IS my money and I do need to survive. What is it good for if I don't ever use it? But I shall re-grow that lost bit in no time!

As the value of the money we use to pay bills decreases, naturally the cost of the bills will increase. As the value of the money we use to buy HIVE decreases, naturally the value of HIVE will increase.

If the value of HIVE doesn't increase and the buy/sell price remains "stable", we're actually seeing the HIVE value decrease. This is why $0.50 HIVE in 2022 in isn't the same as $0.50 HIVE in 2024, we would expect to see more like $0.75 HIVE in 2024. HBD savings helps keep up with inflation, but HIVE itself is paired and dependent on the price of BTC, where BTC goes, HIVE follows.
