Virtual tour of St. Petersburg No. 10. The Cameron Gallery of Great Catherine Palace in the city of Pushkin

Hello everybody! Today I want to continue our photo walk through the park of the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo. In this collection, we will look at the architectural monument, which is called the Cameron Gallery, from different sides. I uploaded a lot of photos in order to view this beautiful structure and its surroundings from all sides along the way.

HELP FROM THE NETWORK: An architectural monument in the Catherine Park of Tsarskoye Selo. The building was built in 1784-1787 by the Scottish architect Charles Cameron. The gallery was conceived by Empress Catherine II for walks and philosophical conversations and is located on the hillside, on the border of the regular and landscape parts of the Catherine Park. The height of the Cameron Gallery coincides with the Catherine Palace.

As far as I remember, this place was not always accessible to visitors. The fact is that there are two ways to get to the very top, where a small garden is located. The first is when you go on an excursion to the Agate Rooms and from there go directly to the upper platform of the structure. The second way is to go there on a wide ramp, similar to a massive bridge.

This place is very nice and cozy. They say the Empress Catherine loved to rest here very much. From the balconies of the gallery there is a view of the palace itself, as well as the Maid of Honor's garden, about which I told a lot in the last publication. If we talk about the architecture of this place, it strongly resembles ancient Greek and Roman palaces in miniature. Strict classics prevail here, and there is even a piece of the building stylized as an antique.

There are always a lot of tourists here, because the view from here is always very picturesque. People take pictures or just look at flower beds, columns and arches. In the summer there is always a lot of greenery.
We will look here again later, because soon we will have to make an excursion to the Agate Rooms.

Привет всем! Сегодня я хочу продолжить нашу фотопрогулку по парку Екатерининского дворца в Царском селе. В этой подборке мы с разных сторон рассмотрим памятник архитектуры, который носит название Камеронова галерея. Я загрузил много фотографий, чтобы по ходу со всех сторон рассмотреть это прекрасное сооружение и его окрестности.

СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Памятник архитектуры в Екатерининском парке Царского Села. Здание построено в 1784-1787 годах по проекту шотландского архитектора Чарлза Камерона. Галерея задумана императрицей Екатериной II для прогулок и философских бесед и расположена на склоне холма, на границе регулярной и пейзажной частей Екатерининского парка. По высоте Камеронова галерея совпадает с Екатерининским дворцом.

Насколько я помню, это место не всегда было доступно для посетителей. Дело в том, что на самый верх, где расположен небольшой садик, можно попасть двумя способами. Первый, это когда вы идёте на экскурсию в Агатовые комнаты и оттуда выходите прямо на верхнюю площадку сооружения. Второй способ – пройти туда по широкому пандусу, похожему на массивный мост.

В этом месте очень красиво и уютно. Говорят, императрица Екатерина очень любили отдыхать здесь. С балконов галереи открывается вид на сам дворец, а также на Фрейлинский садик, про который я много рассказывал в прошлой публикации. Если говорить об архитектуре этого места, то оно сильно напоминает древнегреческие и древнеримские дворцы в миниатюре. Здесь господствует строгая классика, и есть даже кусочек здания, стилизованный под старину.

Здесь всегда много туристов, потому что вид отсюда всегда очень живописный. Люди фотографируются или просто рассматривают клумбы с цветами, колонны и арки. В летнее время тут всегда много зелени.
Мы позже ещё раз заглянем сюда, потому что вскоре нам предстоит совершить экскурсию в Агатовые комнаты.
