Report No136. Kronstadt. Fort Rif. Отчёт о поездке № 136. Кронштадт. Форт "Риф"

Hello to all my readers! Today I propose to continue an interesting walk around Kronstadt. This publication will be a continuation of a series of articles about my last year's trip to St. Petersburg and its surroundings. The day before, we visited the bird sanctuary and saw the Shanets Fort. Today we will get to the Reef Fort and I will share my impressions of that hike.

INFORMATION FROM THE WEB: The Reef Fort is located in a surprisingly picturesque place, on the western tip of Kotlin Island. Due to the good preservation of the fortifications, the Reef Fort is of great interest to fans of military history and fortification. "Reef" is the most powerful fortification of the Kronstadt fortress. From here you can enjoy beautiful views of the "Seal Ridge" and Tolbukhin Lighthouse — the oldest lighthouse in Russia. The Reef Fort is included in the UNESCO Heritage List.

From afar, as soon as we approached the western part of the island, I noticed a neat sandy beach and concrete structures on it. It soon became clear that these were the remains of former military structures that had long been abandoned by man.

There was already more of a sense of civilization in this place. There were a lot of tourists walking here and there, taking pictures on their phones. While we were looking around, where it is better to go at the beginning, I noticed several large areas that are most interesting to review.

According to the tourist guide, the Reef Fort is the most fortified place on the island. Over the years, many artillery crews were built here, powerful bunkers and underground casemates for soldiers were built. Now everything here just reminds of the former power. The local ruins are like the remains of forgotten civilizations.

If you look closely, you can easily distinguish the attachment points of the giant guns. Each such cannon could sink any ship in a couple of successful shots. The fact that real railway tracks were laid here, along which special trolleys transported shells, indicates how large the caliber of those guns was used.

There is now a small open-air museum here. Everything is decorated quite neatly, with signs and painted exhibits. In addition to a motorcycle tire and several antique guns, there is even a real Soviet aircraft from the Second World War.

In fact, the factor of proximity to the sea and bad weather affects here, because the fort functioned until the mid-70s of the last century. That is, when I was still walking under the table, military life was in full swing here, soldiers lived in barracks, and observers from high towers closely watched the bay.

Soon we will continue our walk through the Western Kotlin. I will show you a small historical museum and even an exhibition of avant-garde painting. There are many more interesting things ahead of us. And that's it for today!

Привет всем моим читателям! Сегодня я предлагаю продолжить интересную прогулку по Кронштадту. Эта публикация станет продолжением цикла статей о моей прошлогодней поездке по Петербургу и его окрестностям. Накануне мы побывали в птичьем заказнике и увидели форт "Шанец". Сегодня мы доберёмся до форта "Риф" и я поделюсь своими впечатлениями о том походе.

СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Форт "Риф" располагается в удивительно живописном месте, на западной оконечности острова Котлин. Благодаря хорошей сохранности оборонительных сооружений форт «Риф» представляет огромный интерес для любителей военной истории и фортификации. «Риф» самое мощное укрепление Кронштадтской крепости. Отсюда открываются прекрасные виды на «Тюленью гряду» и Толбухин маяк — старейший маяк России. Форт «Риф» включен в список наследия ЮНЕСКО.

Ещё издалека, как только мы подходили к западной части острова, я заметил аккуратный песчаный берег и бетонные сооружения на нём. Вскоре стало понятно, что это остатки былых военных сооружений, давно покинутых человеком.

В этом месте уже больше ощущалась цивилизация. Тут и там ходило много туристов, которые делали снимки на свои телефоны. Пока мы осматривались, куда лучше пойти в начале, я приметил несколько больших зон, наиболее интересных для обзора.

Как гласит туристический справочник, форт "Риф" - это самое укреплённое место на острове. В разные годы здесь возводилось множество артиллерийских расчётов, строились мощные бункеры и подземные казематы для солдат. Сейчас здесь всё лишь напоминает о былом могуществе. Местные развалины - словно остатки забытых цивилизаций.

Если внимательно присмотреться, можно без труда различить места креплений гигантских орудий. Каждая такая пушка могла за пару удачных выстрелов потопить любой корабль. О том, какой большой калибр использовался у тех орудий, говорит то, что здесь были проложены настоящие железнодорожные пути, по которым специальные дрезины развозили снаряды.

Сечас тут небольшой музей под открытым небом. Всё оформлено довольно аккуратно, с табличками и покрашенными экспонатами. Кроме мотодрезины и нескольких старинных орудий тут есть даже настоящий советский самолёт времён второй мировой войны.

На самом деле здесь сказывается фактор близости моря и непогоды, ведь форт функционировал вплоть до середины 70-х годов прошлого века. То есть, когда я ещё ходил пешком под стол, здесь вовсю кипела воинская жизнь, в казармах жили солдаты, а наблюдатели с высоких башен внимательно следили за заливом.

Вскоре мы продолжим нашу прогулку по Западному Котлину. Я покажу вам небольшой исторический музей и даже выставку авангардной живописи. Впереди нас ждёт ещё много интересных вещей. А на сегодня у меня всё!
