I have a vague recollection of seeing on TV, when I was very young, a movie where black birds attacked people. When I became an adult, I knew it was the movie Alfred Hitchcock’s Birds

British, born at the end of the IXX century, he developed his first years of career in early silent cinema in his country, but it was in the part of his career he made in the United States that he excelled in a genre little explored for the moment, suspense.

And this screenwriter, producer and film director are owed important innovations in the environment. Novel ways to make the framing and camera shots that have never been used before. Ways to edit the images that revolutionized the cinematographic language and a completely different style of posing the arguments.

All these elements built the unmistakable style with which Hitchcock managed to scare his viewers through suspense and not traditional terror.

Let us bear in mind that suspense has its basis of support in keeping the spectator confused in the course of the scenes and with all these ingredients, this artist managed to make the public feel much fear without having to resort to the traditional resource of terror (which makes the viewer afraid by phobias)

Something very striking about Hitchcock’s portfolio is that, although he was active between 1922 and 1978, his most emblematic productions were made between 1955 and 1963.

His best known and emblematic films are "Psycho" and "The Birds"

Tengo un vago recuerdo de haber visto en tv, cuando estaba muy pequeña, una película donde unos pájaros negros atacaban a las personas. Cuando me hice adulta, supe que era la película Los pájaros de Alfred Hitchcock

Británico de origen y nacido a finales del siglo IXX, desarrolló en su país sus primeros años de carrera en el temprano cine mudo, pero fue en la parte de su carrera que realizó en los Estados Unidos donde se destaca en un género muy poco explorado para el momento, el suspenso.

Y es que a este guionista, productor y director de cine se le deben importantes innovaciones en el ambiente. Novedosas formas de hacer los encuadres y planos de cámara que nunca antes habían sido utilizados. Formas de editar las imágenes que revolucionaron el lenguaje cinematográfico y un estilo de plantear los argumentos completamente diferente.

Todos estos elementos construyeron el estilo inconfundible con el que Hitchcock logro asustar a sus espectadores a través del suspenso y no del tradicional terror.

Tengamos presente que el suspenso tiene su base de sustentación en mantener al espectador confuso en el transcurrir de las escenas y con todos estos ingredientes, este artista logró que el público sintiera mucho miedo sin necesidad de recurrir al tradicional recurso del terror (que hace sentir miedo al espectador por medio de fobias)

Algo muy llamativo de la cartera de Hitchcock es que, aunque estuvo activo entre 1922 y 1978, sus más emblemáticas producciones se realizaron entre 1955 y 1963.
