Water Over Electricity

There have been times when I have lacked water and that was a result of a lack of electricity. In my country, we don't have a steady electricity supply, neither do we get water from the waterboard. Most houses have a borehole water pump machine installed that supplies water to the house. When there is no electricity, this means there's no water.

Some people have the luxury of having petrol powered generators that can be used to pump water in absence of electricity from the power companies. I've been in situations where there was no electricity for weeks, neither was the generator functional. In such cases, I had to go to other houses looking for water. When I was younger, I mostly fetched water from wells which we used in bathing and cooking. We got drinking water from a family friend who had a tap just in front of his house.

It's very easy to live without electricity because we're used to it here. There are public places to charge your appliances, phones and laptops, hand-washing in place of machine wash because we didn't grow up with washing machines anyway. There's the launder to iron your important clothes if you really need to because you really just get used to wrinkled clothes. It gets very hot but even new born babies have to adapt to hot nights here, thank God for rechargeable fans these days.

In as much as I hate drinking water, I can't go without drinking at least a litre of water for a whole day or cook anything without water. Neither can I go without bathing a day or doing my laundry in a week. Life revolves around the use of water and no doubt necessary for the survival of all living things.

My obvious pick between living without water or electricity for a week would be electricity. I've literally lived a major part of my life without electricity and I survived. But water? No way!

This is my entry to the Ladies of Hive Community Contest #53.

I invite @lauramica @iskafan and @evegrace to participate in this contest.

What a difficult situation, my friend, both water and electricity are super important. I can't imagine myself without either one. Here the electricity is cut during storms and we already had a pretty bad time for just a few hours.

There's no way to live without water but for electricity, there are ways around it at least from my experience.

You received 5 LADY(LOH) token for entering the Ladies of Hive contest.

Please note that since our LOH token is still so new, that it will be worth more if we HOLD them for a bit before trying to sell them. Some have been trying to sell them immediately after receiving them, but holding them for a bit will help them to increase in value! We are working behind-the-scenes to try to keep the price stable, but the "sell orders" are hampering the stabilization of the price of this new token. Please hold on to your tokens. Thank you! 🙂

¡Considere esperar! ¡Gracias! 🤗

Hehehe, no way without water!!!
Thanks for sharing @wolfofnostreet.
Good luck with the contest.
Friends can help you define your priorities. People tend to pick friends who are similar to them. Because we fall prey so easily into this similarity trap, it is important to try to stretch yourself to learn from some of those opposites. There is some truth to the saying that “Birds of the same feathers, flock together.” Knowing this can help you grow by expanding your range of friends and trying out some new points of view.
Ladies of Hive can be the place where you can grow.

I've never gone without water or electricity for more than a day as long as I can remember. Thus living in a country with a high standard of Living we tend to take for granted how difficult life would be without them even when we have an abundance of water but is it safe usable water?
It's why I appreciate you girls from other countries sharing your experience and I have made preparations to mitigate the loss of these utilities.

Thanks for sharing @wolfofnostreet 🤗
