Homemade #8: Longans with sticky rice

Hello Hive friends,

Today I want to share with all of you a dessert that is made from longan fruits. Actually, I'm a big fan of longan fruits and with the convenience of a tropical climate, I can find a lot of longans here. Yay but too much is never to be good if we eat so many longans, it can cause to a sore throat. Because longan is a favorite food of my mom and me, my dad bought us a lot of longans. However, we can't finish all of them soon, my mom was worried about the freshness of them. Therefore, she decided to make the longan with sticky rice for the first time, also called "Chè Nhãn".

Firstly, I prepare 400gram of longans that have been removed from the seed and wash them off with water. Remember do not use your strength to wash, it can turn into mashed longans whenever.
After washing, I boiled the water and put in 150-gram sugar and let the longans in, it can help the longans keep the texture when we cook with sticky rice. This process will take on 3 mins and then we will take it out and leave it aside.

And we will have a result like this.
To the next ingredient is the peel-off green beans, I will steam the green beans in 30 mins. Before steaming, I put them into the water and leave them in 3-4 hours. That can help the green beans moist and smooth after steaming.

And one of the most important ingredients is sticky rice, however, it took me most of the time to prepare it. I prepared it from the previous night, wash off a few times then leave them in the water until the next day.

To the cooking part, I prepare
300ml coconut milk
200gr sugar (because I cooked with 1kg sticky rice)
1 tsp of salt

I cooked the sticky rice with 1 liter of water until it was fully cooked. Then I put the coconut milk into the sticky rice and the green beans that we steam at first. Stir well until the mixture totally blended together, sugar and salt will be added at the end. Don't forget to put the longans in and wait for them to boil again. And it's ready to serve as a dessert, it can be used in hot or cold depending on our favorite. For me, I prefer it in cold than a hot one.

ôi, lần đầu tiên nghe đến món longans sticky rice á gái. Hồi trước bồ cũ chị bảo longans rất tốt haha :) Món này ăn bổ thôi rồi 😋
