El día de hoy quiero compartirles mi participación para el concurso de arte semanal de @splinterlands . Para el dibujo de esta semana he decidido hacer al personaje TORTISIAN FIGHTER.

Para ser honesto, este dibujo lo venía haciendo desde hace unas semanas, de hecho, ya tenía un dibujo un poco avanzado, pero siempre hubo algo de ese dibujo que no me convencía, no sé si era la pose, el diseño del personaje, el fondo, no sé. Así que después de algunas horas dibujando decidí dejar ese dibujo, con el paso del tiempo vi que tomé una buena decisión, ya que dejar ese dibujo me dio la oportunidad de refrescar mi mente y hacer algo más único y más acorde a mi estilo. Esta experiencia me ha enseñado que a veces es bueno dejar de hacer algo y alejarte por un tiempo, después volverás más fresco y hasta quizá lo harás mejor que la última vez.

Ya llevaba mucho tiempo queriendo hacer este dibujo, siendo sincero, este es el primer personaje que me llamo la atención de toda la colección de cartas de Splinterlands, pero nunca pude adaptarlo a mi estilo, no sé por qué, pero siempre se me complicaba, así que decidí dejarlo para más adelante, yo sabía que algún día lo iba a dibujar y ese día es hoy. Quién sabe, a lo mejor haga otra versión en un futuro, pero esta versión que verán a continuación me gustó muchísimo. ¡Vamos a ello!

• Today I want to share with you my participation for the @splinterlands weekly art contest. For this week's drawing I decided to do the character TORTISIAN FIGHTER.

• To be honest, I've been doing this drawing for a few weeks, in fact, I already had a drawing a little advanced, but there was always something about that drawing that didn't convince me, I don't know if it was the pose, the design of the character, the background, I don't know. So after a few hours drawing I decided to leave that drawing, with the passage of time I saw that I made a good decision, since leaving that drawing gave me the opportunity to refresh my mind and do something more unique and more in line with my style. This experience has taught me that sometimes it's good to stop doing something and step away for a while, then you'll come back fresher and maybe even do it better than the last time.

• I had been wanting to do this drawing for a long time, to be honest, this is the first character that caught my attention from the whole collection of Splinterlands cards, but I never asked to adapt it to my style, I don't know why, but it was always complicated, so I decided to leave it for later, I knew that someday I was going to draw it and that day is today. Who knows, maybe I'll do another version in the future, but this version you'll see below I really liked it. Let's do it!

Para empezar este dibujo quería hacer al tortisiano en una pose diferente, en la versión anterior había hecho varios bocetos, pero ninguno me llamo mucho la atención, por lo que para este dibujo decidí hacer algo más natural y sin perder la esencia del personaje. Por eso lo hizo de espaldas algo relajado, sosteniendo su lanza. Originalmente, iba a llevar la lanza en la otra mano, pero no hallaba la manera de acomodarla bien, por lo que decidí hacer la lanza en la otra mano y agregarle a un pequeño tortisiano, este es como su hijo, al cual le gusta mucho jugar con su padre.

Luego de tener listo el boceto, empecé a aplicar los colores, quería algo muy verde, jugando con tonos marrones y azules. Durante el proceso me costó un poco encontrar los colores adecuados, pero después de ir probando colores al fin pude dar con los tonos adecuados.

• To begin this drawing I wanted to make the Tortisian in a different pose, in the previous version I had made several sketches, but none of them caught my attention, so for this drawing I decided to do something more natural and without losing the essence of the character. That's why he did it with his back somewhat relaxed, holding his spear. Originally, I was going to carry the spear in the other hand, but I couldn't find a way to accommodate it well, so I decided to make the spear in the other hand and add a little Tortisian, this is like his son, who likes to play with his father.

• After I had the sketch ready, I started to apply the colors, I wanted something very green, playing with brown and blue tones. During the process it took me a while to find the right colors, but after trying different colors I finally found the right tones.

Una vez que tenía los colores aplicados decidí cambiar un poco la colores del fondo, pasé el color turquesa a la parte de abajo y en la parte de arriba oscurecí un poco para darle más fuerza al personaje. Luego de corregir esos colores, apliqué una pequeña capa base en los personajes para saber que colores iba a usar.

Para el coloreado empecé por el rostro, es la primera vez que hago a una tortuga humana jaja así que no me vayan a juzgar si los rostros quedan algo raros. Bueno, primero empecé por el rostro, para ello utilicé un pincel tipo crayón, luego de detallar bien algunas partes le agregué los detalles finales con otro pincel estilo crayón, pero este es modificado por mí. Una vez que había coloreado la cara del personaje procedí a colorear el sombrero, en este caso yo que quería que fuera un sombrero de paja, por eso tiene algunos pelitos de paja sueltos por ahí. Luego de colorear el rostro y el sombrero, empecé a colorear la parte izquierda del personaje, primero empecé por el brazo izquierdo uniendo bien los colores y agregándole algunas manchas, después procedí a colorear la lanza, me tomé mi tiempo para colorear y detallar el palo y posteriormente coloreé la punta y la cinta que los mantienen unidos. Después coloreé la pierna izquierda

Luego de colorear el lado izquierdo, procedí a colorear el lado derecho del personaje, primero empecé por la pierna derecha, esto fue sencillo, luego pasé al brazo derecho que está sobre la cabeza del niño. Para finalizar con el personaje principal, procedí a colorear el caparazón, esto también fue algo nuevo para mí, por lo cual me tardé un poco en colorearlo, vi algunas referencias y lo resolví de la mejor manera que pude, primero hice espirales con el tono más oscuro y después con el tono más claro, por último le hice un LineArt casi imperceptible para darle más detalle.

Por último, coloreé al niño. Seguí el mismo procedimiento que utilicé para colorear a su papá. Me tomé mi tiempo para detallar cada parte y obtener un resultado similar.

• Once I had the colors applied I decided to change a little the background colors, I moved the turquoise color to the lower part and in the upper part I darkened a little to give more strength to the character. After correcting those colors, I applied a small base layer on the characters to know what colors I was going to use.

• For the coloring I started with the face, it's the first time I do a human turtle haha so don't judge me if the faces look a little weird. Well, first I started with the face, for this I used a crayon brush, after detailing some parts I added the final details with another crayon brush, but this one is modified by me. Once I had colored the face of the character I proceeded to color the hat, in this case I wanted it to be a straw hat, that's why it has some loose straw hairs around. After coloring the face and the hat, I started to color the left part of the character, first I started with the left arm joining the colors well and adding some spots, then I proceeded to color the spear, I took my time to color and detail the stick and later I colored the tip and the ribbon that hold them together. I then colored the left leg

• After coloring the left side, I proceeded to color the right side of the character, first I started with the right leg, this was simple, then I moved on to the right arm which is above the child's head. To finish with the main character, I proceeded to color the shell, this was also something new for me, so it took me a while to color it, I saw some references and I solved it the best way I could, first I made spirals with the darkest tone and then with the lightest tone, finally I made an almost imperceptible LineArt to give it more detail.

• Finally, I colored the child. I followed the same procedure I used to color his dad. I took my time to detail each part and get a similar result.

Llegó la hora de colorear el fondo. Primero empecé por la parte de atrás del personaje, añadiendo algunas hojas con un pincel con forma de hojas, esto es muy útil porque da una formas muy buenas. Luego empecé a colorear el pasto y las rocas que están a su alrededor, al pasto le añadí algunas hojas extra y otros detalles, también coloreé el agua que está en la parte inferior del dibujo.

Para finalizar le agregué detalles extra al pasto, como unas cuántas margaritas y otro tipo de flores. En una capa extra le agregué una iluminación para darle más protagonismo al personaje y también le agregué algunas hojas cayendo, lo cual creo que se ve muy bien.

• It's time to color the background. First I started with the back of the character, adding some leaves with a leaf-shaped brush, this is very useful because it gives a very nice shape. Then I started to color the grass and the rocks that are around him, to the grass I added some extra leaves and other details, I also colored the water that is at the bottom of the drawing.

To finish I added some extra details to the grass, like a few daisies and other flowers. In an extra layer I added some lighting to give more prominence to the character and I also added some falling leaves, which I think looks very nice.

Fue muy divertido hacer este dibujo, había estado esperando bastante tiempo en hacerlo y al final valió la pena la espera. En este dibujo también utilicé la misma técnica que en el dibujo pasado, así que poco a poco la voy mejorando jaja.
