As the moon rose high in the sky, Mary lay awake in her bed. It had been weeks since she had enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep, and her eyes were heavy with exhaustion. She tossed and turned, her mind racing with thoughts of her sickly mother and the mounting debts that had been piling up.

As the night wore on, Mary's body grew more and more tired, but her mind refused to let her rest. She tried reading, counting sheep, and even listening to the sounds of the crickets outside her window, but nothing seemed to ease her worries.

As the sun began to peek through her window, Mary knew she couldn't face another day without proper rest. She made the difficult decision to seek help from the local doctor, despite the cost. With a heavy heart, she left her home and trudged through the sleepy streets, hoping for a solution to her sleepless nights.

In the end, the doctor was able to offer Mary a tonic that helped calm her nerves and ease her into a peaceful slumber. As she finally drifted off to sleep that night, Mary felt a sense of relief wash over her, knowing that she would never have to suffer through another sleepless night again.
