Apple takes a giant step towards sustainability: repairs with used original parts!

The news dropped like a bomb: Apple, the tech giant known for its strict policy on spare parts, announces that it will allow the repair of iPhones with used original parts from the fall! Yes, you read that right, used!

A revolutionary change - This move comes in response to a recently passed law in Oregon that prohibits manufacturers from blocking the use of original but used parts in repairs.

At first sight it would seem to be a punch in the stomach to rival companies. No more expensive repair monopoly! Now, you will have more options, lower costs and a significant contribution to protecting the environment. No wonder some say it's a monumental "wooow"!

But do not rush to rejoice, Apple has not yet specified which iPhone models will be eligible for this new policy. They will probably start with the older models, but hopefully expand to the entire range quickly.

In addition to opening up to used parts, Apple is also taking steps to combat the black market for stolen parts. They're expanding Activation Lock, a feature that will automatically lock an iPhone if a part comes from a stolen device. That's great news for the safety of you and your data.

And what about the repair history? Now you'll be able to clearly see if a part used to repair your iPhone is new or genuine Apple. Total transparency! That's what we all want - Isn't it!!?

All these changes are a huge step towards a more sustainable and affordable future of iPhone repairs. Apple seems to have finally listened to the needs of customers and the environment. Now, it remains to be seen how all these measures will work in practice.

But one thing is certain.... Apple has ushered in a new era of iPhone repair. An era where we should all have more control over our personal devices, more options and less impact on the planet. So a long and big Wooow!

Yep....In a world dominated by the latest smartphone models, with ultra-fast processors and fantastic cameras, i allow myself to be a bit of a rebel. My everyday phone is not an iPhone 14 Pro Max, nor a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. It's an iPhone 8 Plus, a model released in 2017, now considered "old" by many.

But for me, the iPhone 8 Plus is not just an electronic device. It is a sentimental story, a precious memory hidden in a glass and metal case. I received this phone as a gift some time ago, an unexpected surprise that brought me immense joy. Although the battery doesn't last as long as it used to and the screen has a few scratches, i can't imagine parting with it.

I received this iPhone 8 Plus as a gift some time ago at an important time in my life. He witnessed many memorable moments, from joys to sorrows, from adventures to challenges. I took countless photos and videos with him, captured unique moments and preserved precious memories.

Of course, I'm aware that the iPhone 8 Plus is no longer the best performing phone on the market. Its camera no longer captures as sharp images, and its processor can no longer cope with the latest applications. But for me, it doesn't matter. Its basic functionality meets my needs, and its sentimental story makes it much more valuable than any brand new model.

Some might ridicule my attachment to an "old" phone, but I believe that love is not limited to the newest and shiniest objects. It's about the emotional connection, the sentimental values and the memories we cherish.

  • I know it won't last forever: at some point I'll have to replace it. But until then, i'll enjoy it to the fullest. It is a reliable phone, a loyal friend that has never let me down.

And, who knows? Perhaps one day the iPhone 8 Plus will become a collector's item, a symbol of a bygone era in smartphone history. Until then, i'll treat him with love and respect, as a silent witness to my digital life - he's🤣 my precious😁

What do you think? Still using an older phone? What is his story?
