Woah. Just.. Woah!

We had some close relatives for dinner today, when they departed they left me a tiny box as a gift!

If you follow my unboxings, you probably have a good idea what will be inside ;)

Let's open it up!

Well... Holy fuck! I guess they have heard how I have been collecting precious metals for the last year or so, and they got me something nice and shiny!

And not just something! A gold sovereign and a gold/silver charm for my son!

For those of you unfamiliar with British gold sovereigns, each one of them is 7.99 grams of 0.9167 gold! That's about 370 dollars worth of gold 🤑

Here's some more info from Wikipedia if you'd like to know more:

The sovereign is a British gold coin with a nominal value of one pound sterling (£1) and contains 0.2354 troy oz of pure gold. Struck since 1817, it was originally a circulating coin that was accepted in Britain and elsewhere in the world; it is now a bullion coin and is sometimes mounted in jewellery. In addition, circulation strikes and proof examples are often collected for their numismatic value. In most recent years, it has borne the design of Saint George and the Dragon on the reverse; the initials (B P) of the designer, Benedetto Pistrucci, are visible to the right of the date.

As for the gold/silver charm, I don't know the weight or purity, but I really like the design and details. It's pretty dark now so I can't take decent photos, I'll guess I will leave that for a future shitpost 😂

In total, these two pieces probably had a cost ofat least 500 $! Dang!

It would be nice if I was gifted stuff like these more regularly 😂😂😂😂🤑🤑🤑

Hey, you weren't gifted it - It's for your son ;)

It still irrationally pains me that people trash these awesome pieces by turning them into 'jewellery' haha.

Metal is metal though!

And it is the purest of the gold 24 K dashing piece. A rarest one for a collector and it has a fineness of 0.9167 for color stability purpose. Love it man.

If there is a letter under the left hoof it is either minted in S-ydney, M-elbourne or P-erth; no letter means London.

It would be worth removing the pendant so they done bash together, Have a look at "ringed coin caps" they are a great way to protect and display coins👍

Wow! Yes, what a thoughtful & generous gift. 0.2354 troy oz of pure gold is an interesting & ironic wealth number. The World's Gold Reserve would be 0.2250 troy oz of pure gold, if divided, evenly, to the 8 billion World Citizens. 1.8 billion T oz Gold Reserve. (- US Debt Clock.org) They gave you an ultimate & valuable Rationing Chip.
