One of the Smallest Islands of the World [Deranged Photography Contest - Travel]

Good night, everyone!

This small and charming island is part of the archipelago of Azores and it's such a tiny piece of terrain that it's classified as an Islet. It's called the Islet of Topo.

This is my entry for the Deranged Photography Contest - Travel, hosted by @derangedvisions.

This tiny Islet can be best appreciated from the shores of the Island of São Jorge, from an viewpoint with the same name: Miradouro do Topo (in English: Viewpoint of Topo).

From there, you can see the whole Islet and take some pretty cool photos, specially on a clear and sunny day.

If you bring your swimming suit and the waters are calm enough, you can easily swim until the Islet and spend a few hours relaxing at the sun, away from the other humans. 😊

The water is so crystal clear you can even see the rocks and some fish below...

Believe it or not, there is a bit of vegetation in the Islet and, during the Summer, the local farmers take their cows on a swimming excursion to the Islet so that they can roam in peace for the afternoon. Before dinner, they lead their cows through the waters again... safely back to shore. 😎

If you are ever in the Islands of Azores, don't forget to take a small trip to this destination. It's well worth it, even if you stay there only for a few minutes.

The locals claim they do... but I never saw it myself. 😁

I have never seen cows swimming before - I have seen documentaries where buffaloes, gnoes or other cattle-like animals cross waters to get to greener pastures :)

Neither have I... I only heard about it. 😁
