Helga - The Black Sheep From Ukraine

This morning I'm posting something a bit different from usual. If you're not into Metal Music, I understand if you move on and ignore this post altogether but I really hope you stick with me...

I know this genre is not for the faint of heart nor for those who are more attracted by the mainstream music - which TVs and Radios infect us with, since our childhood until today. But that is exactly the point of my post.

I want to share with you a video from a casting at the popular TV Show X-Factor, Ukrainian Edition.

I don't understand enough Russian (or Ukrainian) to fully understand what she says or what the juries respond but I was able to take most of it by context.

It seems that Helga (Хельга) is a 15 year old girl who doesn't share the interests and musical styles of most kids with her age. I can relate to that. I was always the black sheep in my school class, as well. 😜

As soon as she walks up on stage, a member of a jury with a strange spiked crown in her head seems to laugh and make fun at her appearance.

Really? You want to go there, miss blondie? That's like the pot calling the kettle black. See for yourselves...

Once she's done with her interpretation of "We drink your blood" by the Power Metal band Powerwolf, most of the jury was sold on her talent and vocals, even though it's clearly a musical style they're not too fond of.

The crowd clearly loved it. They cheered her all the way through.

That's why you should never judge a book by its cover.

Even though they realised she was a good singer, the blond girl kept teasing her and asked her something along the lines of: "Do you want to drink blood?" or "Do you want to drink our blood?" - I'm not 100% sure about it, but it was pretty close to that.

You can see through Helga's expression that she wasn't amused at those remarks. 😔

They go for a while teasing her about the "drinking blood" part of the lyrics but eventually they gave her 3 Yes and 1 No, which means she got through! 😁

I think Helga did a wonderful job. It's not easy for a girl to cover a track sung by an adult man. She pulled it off perfectly.

Do you think it's fair or funny to tease people for being different? Well, I have new for you: it's not. It only makes you look like ... a sad bully.

I hope these kind of auditions can break the barrier between the mainstream people and the black sheep of society. We're not that different, we just have different tastes. 🙄

Aarrghhh... if they agree "music is a universal language" bullying her just make us think that the jury is shallow minded people... just because she doesn't like the genre, she'd better shut up and just say No.

but shes a yound teen and she does not aware that playing these adults games ... theres only one way to win -- dont join THEIR game. dont go to the scene and dont give what she has to them. joining the game, you loose it to their profanity their cynism... they will mock up everything

I'm not fan of Metal music... but if there is talent, always good to listen. And Helga is talented. Thanks for sharing this video.

It's a strange world. Those who stray away from the path are usually picked up and bullied by !DERANGED people who call themselves "normal."

good girl! she is living for real. she has a nice mimics. but I dont think I love the music she sings, not my cup of tea.. smells like a special market product, baked with some managers.

Hi. I agree that we're not that different. Six degrees of separation. I never liked those type of shows. There are too many out there the same. And some of the contestants that deserved to win, but weren't chosen for whatever reason, should be given a second look by others who don't call themselves "judges" over anyone.
