Prioritizing Family: The Heart of Parenthood

Sometimes, we miss the life we had before having kids. When there's a place we want to go or friends we want to visit, we can do so without any concerns.

April and I are hustlers. We grind hard and party occasionally, but everything changed when we had Dyn-Dyn. April had an amazing career as a medical biller, with competitive pay and benefits, but she chose to let it go to tend to our kid. To ensure our values aligned with our child as she grew up, we both agreed that getting outside help or a nanny wasn't a feasible option. Additionally, the fact that we are just renting, and our small room cannot accommodate another person in our household.

Everything is slow-paced for us right now, but somehow we find peace in it. As I write this blog post at two in the morning, April and Dyn-Dyn are still sleeping soundly. Each time I see them at peace, I feel grateful for everything.

Whenever we walk outside, Dyn-Dyn makes sure she's holding both of our hands. She rarely walks with just one hand holding hers and patiently waits for both of us to hold her hands.

I always find joy in these moments, as I never experienced them before. My parents were too busy to set something on our table, and a broken relationship had been lingering for a long time without resurfacing. Hence, I treasure each moment like this and store it in my memory.

The journey of being a parent is challenging and demanding, but having someone you care deeply about and receiving it back makes everything worthwhile.
