Life is transitory. Everything that happens to us while we are on this plane is trivial. Nothing is permanent.

You've just had your heart broken, you've been fired, you're broke, you're the most troubled being on the face of the earth. I have news for you, this too shall pass.

You just won the lottery, you just graduated from college, you're going on a world trip, you're overflowing with joy ... let me tell you this too shall pass.

That phrase anchors me to reality, we are ephemeral. Everything in this life is transitory. Nothing is forever.

The first time I heard this phrase, it was from the mouth of one of my high school teachers. At that time I was a high school student, one could say applied, but not brilliant. The phrase, which caused me to laugh, I did not understand it, although it remained echoing in my brain.

It would take about two decades for the phrase, which still fluttered from time to time in my brain, to reveal itself as the answer to my experiences, which at the time I could call chaotic.

"This too shall pass" taught me the art of patience, to not let myself collapse in the face of adversity, to have faith, for all experiences pass sooner or later.

At the same time, it taught me that in a good time you do not forget your roots, your origins, because everything passes, everything changes; but what we are in essence always remains.

AHORA EN ESPAÑOL

La vida es transitoria. Todo cuanto nos ocurre mientras estamos en este plano es trivial. Nada es permanente.

Te acaban de partir el corazón, te han despedido, estas en la bancarrota, eres el ser con más problemas sobre la faz de la tierra. Te tengo una noticia esto también pasará.

Te acabas de ganar la lotería, te acabas de graduar de la universidad, te vas de viaje por el mundo, estas rebosante de alegría … déjame decirte que esto también pasará.

Esa frase me ancla a la realidad, somos efímeros. Todo en esta vida es transitorio. Nada es para siempre.

La primera vez que escuché esta frase, fue de boca de unos de mis profesores de la escuela secundaria. En ese tiempo era una estudiante de bachillerato, se podría decir que aplicada, pero no brillante. La frase, que me causó risa no la entendí, aunque me quedó retumbando en mi cerebro.

Habrían de pasar unas dos décadas, para que la frase, que todavía revoloteaba de vez en cuando en mi cerebro, se develara como la respuesta a mis experiencias, que podría catalogar, en ese momento, de caóticas.

“Esto también pasará” me enseño el arte de la paciencia, a no dejarme derrumbar ante las adversidades, a tener fe, pues todas las experiencias pasan tarde o temprano.

Al mismo tiempo me enseñó que en una buena época no se olvidan las raíces, los orígenes, pues todo pasa, todo cambia; pero lo que somos en esencia siempre permanece.
