ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #70: What's For Breakfast?

Hey friends! Guess who's back this week? haha
I wasn't able to join last week because I honestly didn't know what to write. Though I do keep some coins, but I'm not that familiar with them to actually talk about them. Anyway, this week's topic is much more relatable and I'm excited to talk about it.

The topic for ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #70 is the very common question, "What's for breakfast?"

Some say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so you have to fill your tummy to get enough energy to start it right. However, I've read some articles that this happened because of "commercialization". haha There was one done by a company producing bacon and another one which is a cereal maker.

Anyway, let's not delve further into that. Breakfast is now important for me since I start my classes earlier than before. And it makes me think better with a happy tummy. However in the past, I rarely have breakfast as I used to prioritize sleep. xD

Despite being Asian, my family and I rarely have rice for breakfast. I guess it started when I began working from home. We do have fried rice or champorado from time to time, but it only happens when we have some leftover rice the day before. Otherwise, it's our usual breakfast(s) that I'll be introducing below.

Most of the time, we have some bread and coffee. There are some bakeries nearby, so it's pretty easy to get freshly baked bread in the morning. I personally like eating sweet bread paired with coffee. My parents have some bread and chocolate drink or coffee with milk.

There are times when we don't feel like eating bread, so we buy some Filipino sticky rice goods like puto maya and suman which are perfect with sikwate (a drink made from tableya de cacao).

Here's a closer view of the puto maya (triangular ones) and suman (long ones). They're both sticky rice but puto maya usually has some ginger in it, so it has a distinct flavor compared to other sticky rice goods. The hot chocolate is pure and it was heaven! :)

I usually either dip my sticky rice into my drink or pour some hot chocolate on my sticky rice. haha

This was our breakfast today... :) There were two slices of leftover pizza... it's papa's share, though. xD

Whenever we buy some white loaf or sliced bread as we call it in the Philippines, we usually pair it with some omelet and juice instead of coffee. If not omelet, mama would cook some hotdog, ham or various sausage to pair with the white bread.

Mama toasted some of the bread because why not? haha

Papa's cheese omelet is as delish as ever!!!! <3

In case someone doesn't feel like having a toasted bread...

Refreshing pineapple juice for a hot day!

So yeah, those are my family's usual breakfast. They're all delicious, but the best thing about it is eating together with my loved ones. It's usually just the three of us (my parents and me), but there are times when my cousins and aunts come over, so we share a hearty breakfast together.

Thanks for checking and see you around!

Wow, suman is also my favorite food. Everytime I went to the market, I really did not skip buying suman. The foods you shared here in our community are very delicious.

Best of luck to your entry, and have a nice day. 😊

Thank you so much... :)

And yes, there really are times when we have a craving for suman and other "kakanin". :)

Suman and tsokolate or sikwate are one of our breakfasts for today. I love Sikwate it's so a flavoursome and healthy drink as well. 🤗

We buy bread and very similar snacks wrapped in banana leaves from a guy that passes by on a moto every morning. Unfortunately though, no pineapple juice around here 😄.
