My first impressions of the first three episodes of the Blue Archive anime. —eng/esp

Buenos días, tardes y noches, damas y caballeros. ¿Cómo se encuentran el día de hoy? Espero que muy bien. Yo me encuentro más que excelente, revisando ando diversos animes para ver y claramente encontré uno que me llamó la atención, en este caso no me fui bastante lejos, vi que iban a animar un juego gacha de móviles el cual llegué a disfrutar durante un tiempo pero que después dejé de jugar y cuando quise volver a disfrutarlo me topé con una decepción: se me había borrado toda mi partida, por lo que me desanimé, todo por no haber guardado el perfil y andar jugando en modo invitado, aunque como tal este no es del tema del cual venimos a hablar, bueno, en cierta parte sí lo es, porque evidentemente vamos a hablar del anime de Blue Archive. Siéndoles sinceros me enteré por un post muy corto en la comunidad que hizo un usuario, así que gracias por eso, mi gran pregunta al ver todo esto era si iban a seguir la historia al 100% del juego, porque si no saben tiene muchísimo texto (es casi una novela visual con partes de gameplay de estrategia) por lo que es para bastante y según tiene momentos épicos aunque yo no llegué muy lejos pero recuerdo el comienzo (que es lo que se supone que deberían animar), por lo que les vengo a dar mis impresiones de estos primeros tres capítulos de lo que va de temporada. Así que sin más dilación, comencemos.

Good morning, afternoons, and evenings, ladies and gentlemen. How are you all doing today? I hope very well. I find myself more than excellent, currently reviewing various anime to watch and clearly found one that caught my attention. In this case, I did not go far, I saw that they were going to animate a mobile gacha game that I enjoyed for a while but then stopped playing. When I wanted to enjoy it again, I came across a disappointment: my entire progress had been erased, so I was discouraged, all because I didn't save my profile and played as a guest. Although this is not really the topic we are here to discuss, well, in a way it is, because obviously we are going to talk about the anime Blue Archive. To be honest, I found out through a very short post in the community made by a user, so thank you for that. My big question when I saw all this was whether they would follow the game's story 100%, because, if you don't know, it has a lot of text (almost like a visual novel with strategic gameplay parts), so it's quite lengthy and reportedly has epic moments, although I didn't get very far but I remember the beginning (which is what they are supposed to animate). So, I'm here to give you my impressions of these first three episodes of the current season. So, without further ado, let's begin.

Hablando claro, en estos primeros capítulos más que nada te hacen una introducción a los personajes y no hay absoluta presencia de haber una trama aún más avanzada o elaborada, vemos el día a día de las estudiantes de Abydoss y cómo el profesor ayuda a las alumnas a enfrentar sus problemas del día a día. Lo que podría ser más peculiar o llamar más la atención al espectador es el hecho del mundo donde se encuentran porque prácticamente no se explica nada y no parece que lo fueran a hacer, si jugaste el juego quizás tengas más contexto y puedas disfrutar mejor el contenido de lo que quieren ofrecer pero sencillamente pienso que también deberían pensar en aquellos que no saben nada, porque nada más confuso que ver chicas que usan armas y se disparan pero que las balas no tengan efecto en ninguna de ellas (esto tiene su debida explicación pero no sé si la darán después), haciendo las batallas campales como si fuese un juego de niños, no parece como si fuera realmente alguien a morir, por lo que veremos en este comienzo más un tinte cómico para pasar el rato. Tengo entendido que han eliminado varias partes de la historia como el origen del profesor pero supongo que después verán cómo hacer que encaje todo.

Speaking plainly, in these first chapters, mainly they introduce you to the characters and there is no absolute presence of a more advanced or elaborate plot yet, we see the daily lives of the students of Abydoss and how the teacher helps the students face their day-to-day problems. What could be more peculiar or catch the viewer's attention is the fact of the world where they are because practically nothing is explained and it doesn't seem like they are going to do so. If you played the game, perhaps you have more context and can enjoy better what they want to offer but I simply think they should also consider those who know nothing because nothing is more confusing than seeing girls using weapons and shooting each other but the bullets have no effect on any of them (this has its proper explanation but I don't know if they will give it later), making the battles seem like a children's game, it doesn't seem like anyone is really going to die, so we will see a more comedic tone in this beginning to pass the time. I understand that they have removed several parts of the story like the origin of the teacher but I suppose they will figure out how to make everything fit later on.

Con los tres capítulos iniciales no podría decir que hay algo que realmente te pueda enganchar a seguir viendo, pues técnicamente nos encontramos al clásico ejemplo de una obra hecha únicamente para complacer a los fans pero lo bueno es que por lo menos procuraron hacer algo con una calidad disfrutable y no tomaron la ruta fácil de otros proyectos que sencillamente son inmirables de los malos que son. Siempre se ha tenido esa idea de que los animes de videojuegos son malos pero yo creo que en este caso podría haber una excepción y créanme cuando lo digo, tengo experiencia en esto pero solo hasta ahí, no es que nos vayamos a encontrar con la octava maravilla del mundo, estamos ante la adaptación de la historia de un juego gacha, quizás puede que sorprenda después pero tengo total desconocimiento. Finalmente podría decir que de cierta forma me ha gustado lo poco que he visto pero lo veré cuando no tenga más nada que ver ya que nos encontramos con un ritmo pausado y no uno frenético que te impulsa a seguir viendo.

With the first three chapters, I couldn't say that there is something that really hooks you to keep watching, because technically we find ourselves facing the classic example of a work made only to please the fans. But the good thing is that they at least tried to do something with an enjoyable quality and didn't take the easy route of other projects that are simply unwatchable due to how bad they are. There has always been this idea that anime based on video games are bad, but I believe that in this case there could be an exception. Trust me when I say this, I have experience in this, but only to a certain extent. It's not like we will come across the eighth wonder of the world. We are faced with the adaptation of a gacha game's story. Perhaps it may surprise later, but I have total ignorance about that. Finally, I could say that in a way I liked what little I have seen, but I will watch it when I have nothing else to watch, as we encounter a slow pace and not a frenetic one that drives you to keep watching.

Lo que más quiero destacar y que me encantó sin dudas cuando lo vi por primera vez, es el ending que este anime posee, se nota que de verdad se esmeraron en hacerlo porque está hecho con nada más y nada menos que con rotoscopia, algo no muy común de ver y una técnica bastante complicada, los visuales que tiene el ending sin dudas son preciosas y combinan excelente con la música, ya quiero que salga una versión sin los créditos para poder apreciarlo de mejor forma. Luego si hablamos del opening, no es espectacular pero si lo escuchas después de un tiempo, quizás pueda llegar a ser pegajoso porque se nota que lo hicieron con dicha intención. La animación del anime en sí, es bastante normalita, es muy resultona, quizás esto se deba a que está animado por un estudio específico que se encarga de hacer animes de diversos videojuegos, lo cual es bastante curioso, me recuerda a Mushoku Tensei que también tiene un estudio dedicado nada más a ese anime pero obviamente acá con menos calidad.

What I most want to highlight and what I loved without a doubt when I first saw it, is the ending that this anime has, you can tell that they really put effort into it because it is done with nothing more and nothing less than rotoscoping, something not very common to see and a quite complicated technique, the visuals in the ending are undoubtedly beautiful and they combine excellently with the music, I already want a version without the credits to be able to appreciate it in a better way. Then, if we talk about the opening, it's not spectacular but if you listen to it after a while, maybe it can become catchy because you can tell that it was made with that intention. The animation of the anime itself is quite ordinary, it is very decent, maybe this is because it is animated by a specific studio that specializes in making anime adaptations of various video games, which is quite curious, it reminds me of Mushoku Tensei which also has a studio dedicated only to that anime but obviously here with less quality.
