► About

Well this about a man who thought he was "in tune" with grizzly bears called Timothy Treadwell. He was an amateur expert on it and wen off to Alaska to live with the bears.....

You can find out all about the ins and outs here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427312/

► What you loved about it

This was one of most compelling documentaries I have ever seen. The footage which is compiled after him living 13 years in one of the most beautiful places on earth is brilliant. However is is the Herzog's voice over that stays with me. The way the characters is portrayed however is probably the masterpiece of the film to me. It really does let you get to know him.

► How it influenced me

This film's influence is not only profound but disturbing. This insight into a mans life that was completely different from mine was fascinating and the idea of him living in Alaska and being so free while developing intricate and complex relationships with bears (in his own mind) was compelling. There are times during this film that I wanted to be Grizzly Man and thought his life looked idyllic and it was all possible to have that kind of relationship with a very dangerous animal. However these feelings were equally balanced of this being a documentary about a lunatic. It quite literally tore me in two.

► What part of it did you find most interesting.

His attitude towards the bears, his commitment to them was un-paralleled and he went into it knowing he could die. Just watch the trailer. So the formation of the way the footage was compiled to paint the picture of Timothy was definitely the most interesting for me.

► Any scene that still pops into your mind.

When he finally gets killed and the way it is dealt with within the documentary still haunts me today. Writing this now it send shivers and chills down my spine.

► Performance of the actors/actress that left an impression.

Werner Herzog is my opinion is a genius. I will never forget this film, not just for the amazing voice over but also the way this film was put together. Not only giving me insight into this unique mans life which is both inspiring and complexing but also the emotional reaction I had will always stay with me.

Wow, I checked the trailer but haven't seen it, I sure would have remembered this one.
Reading the part about when he gets killed and how it's dealt with in the documentary makes me wonder if I want to see it though.

After growing up in the Alaskan wilderness and spending a chunk of my childhood smack dab in the middle of bear country, I still can't believe I haven't watched this documentary yet, as Timothy's story is familiar to me. After your glowing review I made a note to check it out!

This is actually a documentary that I really WANT to see. Even though the part that he gets killed is not the thing I want to see. I think it was inevitable, and the documentary would not have been complete if they had left that part out.

Grizzly Man is a stone cold classic. I want Werner Herzog to narrate my daily activities.
