NEVER HAVE I EVER; being this disappointed

Okay, so maybe that was a bit harsh, but come on Netflix, you guys can do a lot better than that. I recently re-subscribed for my Netflix account and I have been really stoked to get back to seeing TV shows, documentaries, and movies again. I finally finished all the episodes of Vikings after almost a year of watching. Maybe I will also write about that soon. I am usually not this dismissive of a particular Tv show. I have a great tolerance level for bad Tv and I usually find the positives about them, but in this scenario, I was quite disappointed to say the very least.

Never Have I Ever

Never have I ever, is a drama-comedy that tells the story of a young Indian high schooler who goes through a traumatic year after losing her father while struggling with typical teenage problems. The show weaves its story around all its different diverse characters and develops a beautiful arc interconnected amongst most parts of them. At first glance, you'd reckon this is a typical teenage shenanigans bulshit, but when you start to watch it; season one and season two, you'd realize the writers have a deeper message and the show packs a deeper meaning than what you see on the surface level. Alas, the show seemed to have lost its spark with its latest season, season 3. The latest season was released on the 12th of August, and I have been looking forward to it, only to be completely let down. Season 3 felt like a complete disappointment. The show seemed to have lost all its original ideas.

The Bad

Imagine watching a show about a young woman going through grief and trauma, and trying to navigate her way through life and all that. Absolutely relatable isn't it? Now imagine, the show comes on another edition, and this time, it's all about the main character trying to boink bloody hell. The whole culture and taste it had in the retrospective season all seemed to have disappeared with the latest series. I was disgusted, to say the least. Teenagers being teenagers, getting all cranky over boys, and vice versa. I laughed at the jokes sometimes, but mostly at the silliness of the plot. Then there was the part where new characters were introduced to stretch the inevitable as it seemed like the climax of the show was a teenager getting laid. Try to process that for a moment.

Stream or skip

It's simple. Stream season one and season two but skip season three. It was just too bland. But of course, it's impossible that you'd skip it. Curiosity would get the better of you. I am at a crossroads you see. The show was beautiful at first, then shite later. If I hadn't watched season three, I would absolutely have recommended this show, but after seeing it, I can't speak so highly of it anymore. Well, maybe go have a look at it and make of it what you will. It's crazy that I actually kept on watching, lol. Thanks for reading my shit. Cheers.

The whole thing gets wacky at some point. I mean if you revolve around the world of teenage drama then maybe you'll like this but I got tired of watching it at some point. I hope they're not planning to renew it for a fourth season. Thanks for sharing by the way

Spot on. If they keep going in them same route then it losses its uniqueness, it has lost it even.

Thanks my bro.

(Edited)

Honestly, I have had this movie on my laptop for a long time now but I never wanted to watch it because I felt it is one of those teenager movies. Really, the comedic parts were okay but some things were not just necessary or normal. Like dating 2 guys at the same time, bringing them to the same party and thinking or perhaps believing they won't find out..! Who does that?!😂

I don't even know how many seasons I have watched. I might stop there though.

It's crazy 🤣🤣🤣

It's one of the things that really pissed me off. The thought process of the teens is just insane

The season one was okay, but that season two

Omo 🤣🤣
