Long Sunday Run: Here, there and everywhere

avatar

Another cold one today and our heating was not working at first. The condensate pipe tends to freeze up on cold night and cause problems. Probably needs more insulation. I managed to get up in the end to head out. It was sunny out there and soon warmed up.

I was not sure how far I would go this time. I tend to see how it is going and then I can extend if I feel up to it. As usual I started off running up to and around Fairfield. I was feeling fairly good, so headed off towards The Grange, which does mean running up the big hill. That will come up early on the half marathon next month, so I ought to do it a few more times. Instead of cutting straight back to Stotfold I ran half the Letchworth parkrun course, in the opposite direction. All the mud has dried out, but it was quite rutted in places down the big hill, especially at the bottom for Carnage Corner.

I went out the back of Stotfold towards Astwick and then across the fields.

This was just as I got to the fields. You can see how flat it all is.

White house

You may see a white speck in the previous picture. This is it closer up. It is quite a place. The fence is new since I last went that way. I see they have reinforced the panels a bit as the wind will whip across there. That path leads to the bypass that I have to cross. It was not too busy, so I was not waiting long. I headed straight home from there as that made it up to 15km and that is enough after about 9km yesterday.

Route

I kept up a reasonable pace today. There are dips where I reached the top of the big hill and then when I was taking photos. I would like to be a little quicker on the half, but then there will be lots of other runners to drive me on. I did see a few people out running and cycling today. It is just a nice day for it.

I hope your weekend has been good for whatever you do.

Run free and stay well.

Well it's what I can do after years of running. Others would be much quicker, but I don't worry about it.

Probably the very nice weather helped you to be able to get up to run, the cold can be very annoying in these times, I hope that does not create problems to your outdoor outings!

I just dress for the weather, but I soon warm up. Cold is not really an issue. Better that than wet.

Now you have me curious about the white house. Is it actually someone's home? It seems rather lonely without any trees around it.

It was built as a home and I saw a model at the planning meeting I went to for our selfbuild. I know it look longer to build as the original person may have run out of money. I think it's had a few owners and I heard some religious group had bought it. I'd love to see inside. It projects out over a small lake. There were some articles about it in national papers, but those want you to pay to read them. It's 10,000 sqft and was listed at over two million pounds.

One of the nice things about a house being listed online is the ability to see pics of the interior of homes. It's a fun way to do a sort of virtual tour.

It seems as though your pace is improving slightly. even if I am wrong about this it is still impressive to me. Well done!

I think I am improving, but it can be slow changes. I hope to improve my parkrun times this year at least.
