THE ACT OF BORROWING AND LENDING || A FUNNY STORY

(Edited)

Have you ever met some kinds of people which the only time you get to hear from them is when they need something from you? The only time you ever exist in this world is when they are in need. there are people like that, and they don't know how bad this hurts a relationship.

I have quite some acquaintances in which the only reason they contact me is when they are in need and after that, I don't seem to exist again. I am quite the kind of guy who would help anybody so far I am capable and it doesn't take anything away from me.

One thing I enjoy about myself is that I check to see if my actions conform to the norms and moral standards I have established for myself. I think everyone should do this. About three months ago, I wrote an article on ethics to follow when lending money to people called COMMON MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE WHEN THEY BORROW AND GIVE LOANS || MY PAINFUL STORY

How does this article relate with this topic?

untitled.gif
By now, you must have figured out the quatum physics to determine how they relate.
Powered by tenor

So here comes the funny story...

There's this lady friend of mine who, whenever she needs money, texts me and says she wants to borrow this amount, which I give her. The problem is that she uses the term "borrow," but according to my borrowing ethics, I only borrow what I can give out without asking for it back. This is due to the fact that when you borrow money or an object, there is a great likelihood that the person will not return it.

So it is with this lady, and the strange thing is that we don't talk, call, chat, or do business with each other, and then when she needs money again, she comes to me without returning the last money she borrowed.

untitled.gif
I guess this is probably your reaction right now 😅

Despite the fact that, per my guidelines, I don't often lend someone money twice if they don't pay back the first, I continued to give her money because it wasn't a sizable sum in total. When someone makes it apparent to me that they need money and want me to dash them, I always find it to be pleasant. By doing so, I would be able to tell if the individual was being honest when they said they wouldn't be able to return it rather than just using the word "loan" to get what you want and then not return it.

But in her situation, I continued to provide until I finally told her to join Hive. Since I was still enrolled in the OCD onboarding program at the time, she would have received support if she had adhered to the requirements and pasted relevant content. She paints, bakes cakes, and makes molds, and this specific woman is a talented artist. She is brimming with skills, which led me to believe Hive would be a fantastic fit for her.

untitled.gif
Use this image as an imagination of the lady

I had to make it clear to her what Hive is about, tell her this is where I get the money I am giving her and if she really needs a medium where she can make some money from the talent she has, Hive is the best place for her.

I attempted to follow up with the registration and explanation. In the meantime, this was before I began the Hive Bootcamp Program with my team. However, it appears that she was not interested in joining Hive after creating her account, and there is another rule I follow when attempting to introduce someone to Hive or something similar, and that is: Never force someone to do something they don't want to do, or they will push back.

untitled.gif

So I gave her a break and gave her time since I was confident she would return when she next needed money from me, and she did. She messaged me yesterday to ask me to lend her money. She didn't send the message right away, but she was trying to start a conversation with us before ending on a high note.

I knew that was the main reason for her message from the first text she sent. I was just waiting for her to hit the right note. Then she asked me to lend her $10, and I was like 👇

untitled.gif
Are you kidding me?

I had to tell her the truth: "You haven't paid back all the money you have been borrowing in the past." And the next thing she said was that she believed I had given her the cash. I said, "You use the word "borrow" when asking for money, and you assume I gave it to you."

She claimed that because I never ask her about the money when I give it to her or mention it in any other way, it is logical to assume that I provided it to her freely. This claim sounded absurdly hilarious!

untitled.gif
You should be having a laugh now🤣😂

In the end, she claimed that she had never encountered somebody quite like me.

She was startled that I continued lending her things without asking for them back. I'm not sure if this statement is good or negative. I don't know if she is accustomed to people pursuing her when they want their money back, but the truth is, that borrowing money from someone and expecting them to chase you relentlessly until you pay it back is wrong.

I would never act in such a way. For this reason, I will never lend money that I cannot afford to lose. No matter how much I trust my friend, if I have 5 million and he asks for 3 million tomorrow for a business, I won't give it to him because I can't afford to lose it. Trust doesn't change the possibility of a situation or condition happening. These are the reasons why I uphold the ideals and ethics I have established to improve my life.

Now, I think it's appropriate to remind her of Hive and what it can do for her, but I wouldn't force her to join; instead, I would merely offer advice in order to prevent her from joining Hive and becoming disinterested in it.

What are the moral lessons?...

There are three moral lessons in this article, The first is:

Always Learn to Return What you Borrow...

The Second is:

Never Lend what you cannot Dash...

The Third is:

Never let an Opportunity Pass you By...

What other moral lessons can you find?

I like the guy! plain honest that he is asking for it and not to borrow money. That way, you would know yes, this is why he is calling but although, it is not all that good that he calls only when he is in need.

Bruh, This is so relate able. Like literally always happens to me whether female or male they'll come from nowhere when they need help !LOL otherwise it's like i don't even exist fr.

Dude, you seems like a "Angel" For that lady obv and she's like my friend who keep asking for money when they need without returning previous one and ain't also coming into hive even after telling.

It's quite funny to see how people are like lol and yea totally agree with that rule of yours.

Damn, three lessons I ain't gonna forget ever in my life.

Both male and female does this, regardless of age.

I have another story of a man old enough to be my father who was trying to befriend me only because of what he stands to gain for me.

The only difference is, that he calls me way too much and texts me too frequently as if I am dating him. It is so annoying because I am always busy with something and he distracts me.

He felt like a pest to me because he asks me for money too frequently. In fact every week, he needed money for one thing or another.

I gave him for a few weeks but when I saw he was feeling entitled to me giving him money, I cut him off totally. I don't give him anything no matter the condition he states.

Imagine him saying cutting him off was bad and that I do not see how much benefit he can be to me as a friend. Benefit my foot! I got pissed totally...

I hope your friend gets to realise that behaviour is bad.

Yea, indeed!

Dude literally People knows how to take advantage of someone and don't get used by someone.

Living in a era where people can sacrifice their self respect for money. I can't even ask someone to lend me money it feels like awkward.

Glad you cut off with him and hope not someone reading this post of you will come in your DMs to ask for money !LOLZ

Benefit my foot! I got pissed totally...

I can understand bro. Friendships of nowadays are more like for personal benefits.

True, he knows I only have a one friend that I won't want to lose.

My DM is open... One thing about me is, that I try not to change who I am regardless of the type of people I meet and how they treat me.

My ethic is that I only give when I have and when I can afford to do so. If I don't, I can never go far to borrow money to help a stranger or acquaintance in my name, no matter the condition.

Money and possessions are vanities... So why not give when I can afford it?

You are absolutely right, we should give as long as we have and we shouldn't change who we are because of nobody.

You're absolutely right, people are more concerned about what they can benefit than doing what is right.

You are also right when you said most friendships are now based on personal benefits. I have a friend who is feeling so entitled to me giving him my time without thinking whether or not I have work to do.

She was startled that I continued lending her things without asking for them back.

She took you as s nice person and kept on spoiling you. I wonder why people wait for the lender to ask the money back. Don't they feel embarrassed or burdened when taking money from someone. My brother says if someone is nice, we should be nicer with him, instead of taking the advantage of his gentleness.

Spoiling?

Don't get what you meant by spoiling...

I wonder why people wait for the lender to ask the money back

I wonder the same thing too. Doesn't make sense to me but I understand people are like this so I don't get surprised and I try not to expect anybody to be different.

My brother says if someone is nice, we should be nicer with him, instead of taking the advantage of his gentleness.

Too bad that not everyone thinks like this.. there are fewer good people in this world.

Heart of gold I'll say you have, because I for one I may not ask the money back because I help people to shame I'll be considering their feelings... But I wouldn't go ahead and still borrow them again, especially when it's more than twice I've given. To me it's a way they are telling me I'm foolish (My feelings)..... You are amazing ✌️😇✌️

How possible will it be to join your Hive bootcamp program... Any possibilities?

I always gets scared when it comes to borrowing money , especially from the Palmpay app or any other account, my fear of not meeting the deadline gets me to panic and find it by all means before the time even comes.

thanks for sharing those hints, they are great by the way.

I won't even advise anyone to borrow from anywhere online because it's almost suicidal when you don't meet the deadline.

I was just laughing while reading this!!

That lady is quite funny.
My first principle : It is wrong to ask for help from someone you have not been checking up on.

Second: It is worse to check up on someone because you want to ask for a favour.

My question is after your "are you kidding me exclamation", did you later give her the money she requested?

I had two friends before and they did the same. I know that their family cannot instantly provide their financial needs at school. So whenever they asked to "borrow" $10, I give it to them without expecting it to be paid.
What disappoints me though, is that I realize that they mistook my friendship with them and thought that I am just an easy prey they can just manipulate.

It must have been really painful, the fact that humans just assume things is really so scary because they can just easily tell themselves that you no longer need whatever you have helped them with even without asking you first.

0

It is indeed painful and disappointing at the same time. I keep on wondering how could it be that they don't realize the value of having a true friend that can be there whenever you need them. Is it all about money for them?

There is actually more to this story of mine that I am thinking of making a post about it.

I can relate with this, sometimes I just feel like I'm the one who is at fault, maybe I sent a wrong message or maybe I did something wrong. I get these feelings and it just makes me want to be alone sometimes.

I would love to read that post!

sometimes I just feel like I'm the one who is at fault, maybe I sent a wrong message or maybe I did something wrong.

I also get these when I notice somethings not quite right. There are even times I can't sleep thinking about it. However, I believe that what we should do is also consider the fault might be on the side of the other person. As they say, no one is perfect and finding the fault solely on our self will not do as any good.

Hmm, that's really nice, I'm so happy I left a comment on your blog, this words are really what I need to hear now 😢.

I'm so fond of taking the blame because I feel to weak to want to explain to others, but I will consider what you have said and I really appreciate it.

Don't feel depressed over something that is not your fault. And stop blaming yourself, it just adds up and does you nothing good. Sometimes, you may just need to express yourself. I personally find it relieving. If you can't express it in person, then you can try using our Hive. 🙂

I have quite some acquaintances in which the only reason they contact me is when they are in need and after that, I don't seem to exist again.

This is extremely tiresome and a big reason for some people to hide how well they are doing in life, just so their acquaintances don't reach out only when they need something, damn.

I would never act in such a way. For this reason, I will never lend money that I cannot afford to lose.

Just like books, if you are not willing to lose the money, don't lend it, because most of the times lending money or assets will eventually end up with you losing money AND a friend.

Great post and congrats on getting a decentralized curation vote!

This is so true!

This is extremely tiresome and a big reason for some people to hide how well they are doing in life, just so their acquaintances don't reach out only when they need something, damn.

And more of the reasons why people don't make themselves easily accessible.

most of the times lending money or assets will eventually end up with you losing money AND a friend.

You got this damn right. Best to have the mindset of not getting it back than having to lose a friend alongside.

Thanks! I would check out on leogrowth 🤗

This is an eye opener indeed, it's really absurd when someone we lend something to just sit down somewhere and wait for us to come and ask them of the money we gave to them.

From your story, I've also learned that it is good that we should not give people the chance to make excuses, yes, if you had told her the second time about the first she had borrowed, she would not have been to tell you all that bullshit.

Thank you so much for stating the other lessons, they are well noted ✍️.
