NO SMELL, NO TASTE - MY FOOD ORDEAL
For someone who is a lover of food, having to lose the ability to get the real taste of a food is like living a nightmare. This is my present condition, as I don't always enjoy every meal I eat. I even sometimes lose the appetite to eat even when I am hungry, as it has begun to feel like I am just chewing something for no reason.
I actually don't eat just because I am hungry, but because I love tasting food. I love the sensation from my tongue to my brain, and now I have been facing a serious issue with food for 4 weeks, which started since I started having cartarrh. This cartarrh has refused to leave, and I have been taking a series of medications.

Now here is my meal for the night, which I decided to order online for $3. I have been craving spaghetti for some days now, and I have been too lazy to enter the kitchen to cook. Moreover, I don't have any foodstuffs at home, as I am not motivated to do so since I can't even taste what I cook.
I decided to order the spag today, hoping that I would have a tiny taste of it, but my cartarrh did not disappoint, making me regret buying the spag. I could only feel the food enter my mouth; I could not even feel a single taste of it. I just kept eating to quench my hunger.
When making this order, I got a little pissed at the food plug. They offered pasta and chicken for $2.5, and I asked if I could get asun (goat meat) as an extra. She said yes, it is available, and then told me I would pay $3.4 to have the food delivered to my doorstep, as the delivery fee is $0.4.
When the order came, there was no chicken, and all I could see was the asun and spaghetti. I did the calculations as to why I paid $3.4. I thought I would get pasta and chicken for $2.5, asun for $0.4 and tfare for $0.4.
I had to make complains before she later told me that only the pasta and the asun cost for $3. I seriously would have preferred chicken to the asun as it was cheaper getting but regarding the taste, it does not matter at this moment because if I was to be given different types of meat or food to eat, I would not be able to identify what I am eating if my eyes were closed.
The same way I was pained when I took Pearl to a Chinese restaurant last week and I could not enjoy the meal and was just eating the food for the sake of hunger.
I actually cannot wait till I am 100% well and better so that I can begin to enjoy meals and maybe get back to cooking.
Is there a medical reason why you can't taste food? I recently had a procedure done in my mouth so I went through something similar where my mouth was so medicated, I couldn't taste food properly. Every chew was supposed to be calculated so the food won't be spilled on the recovering side of my mouth. Otherwise the pain will ruin the whole experience.
About the delivery, yeah they usually mess up the remote orders and is hard to complain. Some restaurants just don't have the right systems to double check the orders
There is not really a medical reason, I think this is because of the catarrh I had. It had really blocked my nose, so I could not really smell the food and because of that, I lost my sense of taste as well.
I cant understand why customer service is just getting worst and worst, at least similar things happen on a daily bases down here, those taking the orders or selling you something, its wort when its food because you already have expectations of what you are going to eat, they are not proactive enough to let you know this things before hand, I just hate when this happen, reason why I always unfortunately have to threat them like they don't know what they selling and double and even triple check things with them before order, I get you ✌️🙏
Hmm.. I think I need to be doing this and be trying to confirm everything before they send forth the order. You need to know how disappointed I was when I opened the food and it was not exactly what I was expecting. A lesson have been learned.
This is happening to me right now. I don’t even feel like eating any food. All I want to do is drink and I’m selective when it comes to drink

Exactly! I am more interested in eating that, and I think I could taste the drink better compared to when I am eating. Just like you, I am selective to what I drink. I don't take soda or all these minerals.
Sorry to hear that you have catarrh and have lost the sense of taste. Catarrh can be cause by many reasons so I hope you doctor has identified the root cause and the effects of your medicine will be impactful. Hopefully you will feel better soon and can enjoy your meals again.
