Need Your Advice: Making My Intro Video - Should I Use a Script or Speak Freely?

IMG_0583.jpeg

As I have been mentioning for some weeks, I would be starting a channel which I want to be publishing on 3speak and Youtube spontaneouly and on this Hive account, @iam-gifted, I plan uploading an introductory video of what the channel would be about and what type of content I would choose exploring.

I don't really know how I would make this video; I don't know. Obviously, making this video would require me to use a camera (my phone, of course), a tripod stand, a room, and for me to speak to the camera. The main issue here comes with speaking to the camera.

What words to say, how do I say them? How do I make my words clear? Do I need to write down a script, then memorise it before coming up to the camera?

I have watched so many videos on the YouTube channel, some TikTok contents, and I try to figure out how these guys talk freely on the video, having their words so clear as if they were scripted out already. Or do all of them make use of a telecaster where they can easily read the words that have been previously scripted out?

These thoughts come to mind.

So I have made a few videos that I plan to edit tomorrow and then publish on Wednesday, which is my birthday. And for this video, I had earlier written down a script that was crafted out with the help of ChatGPT, then crammed it and spoke to the camera. Since it was something that was scripted, crammed, and shot straight to the camera, I have a lot of cuts to do on the video. The issue is that I don't know if this is the best way to do it.

Would I need to be writing scripts for my future videos? Would I need to just speak straight from my thoughts with highlighted bullet points on a piece of paper in my hands? Different thoughts and questions just run through my mind.

Reading the script I had earlier written would have been a lot easier if my face was not showing, and I would have just had to read the script while different animations showed up but this is an intro video, the face of the channel needs to be shown.

I hope I did not make the question more difficult to ask, and I hope you understand which part or area to advise me on. I would really appreciate it.

I think you should make use of scripts first
Also, I wish you a happy birthday in advance…

I'm not an expert in this but I'd say since it's your first time and you're a bit nervous, you can script something and memorize it just to keep you on track. You don't need to go strictly by the script, you can do some additions and subtractions as you video

Happy birthday in advance too🎉🎉

I understand your reservations. But I don't think going along with a script would be the best thing. I personally think it's a lot easier to just speak into your camera.

Now, I'd say that you should highlight some of the important things you'd like to mention in video on a piece of paper and just speak freely using those points as a guide. You don't want to sound mechanical(like a newscaster). Show a little personality and just freestyle around it. That way, in subsequent videos, it wouldn't be so difficult to speak as you please.

I just hope what I explained makes sense sha.
Goodluck with the channel and Happy birthday in advance!

Both the scripted and bullet point are good bro. I think scripted seems harder because you want to say exactly what you have written down. And sometimes, scricptless does the magic too since you know what exactly you want to say, comes from undiluted from the mind too: making it seem extra real.

You would figure it out more as you continue in this career bro.

The only way that writing with a script would be easy is if I have a teleprompter in which I can easily see those words as I make my video.
