Embracing a Proactive New Year: A Preventive Approach to Productivity and Life Balance

IMG_0368.jpeg

Productivity is one thing every man seeks in order to have a better and more proactive life. This is why men have incorporated techniques such as note-taking, calendar scheduling, and daily planning in order to have a more productive lifestyle.

In this new year 2024, I choose to change my style in which I look at being productive and working on it every day. Before, I do work on things when they were urgent or focus on the easiest task before facing the biggest ones. Then, when I read the book Eat the Frog, I changed the system and focused on biggest and most difficult task before attempting the easiest.

Now, I am getting a better view of how I can structure my life to truly have a balance between every aspect of my life—as a son, mentor, student, Hive, and my tech skills. The approach I am going to take is a preventive approach to productivity, where I focus on important tasks when they are not urgent and also on those that may seem urgent. This way, I would be able to have a calm mind when these tasks are needed.

Like I said before, I don't always look at my tasks when they are not urgent; my focus is always basically on what needs to be done now. This is why sometimes in school, I may not read my notes until I notice tests will be happening soon, or I don't even plan for the clothes I will be wearing to church until it is the day before Sunday.

If I can learn to work on these tasks moments before they become urgent, I would create more free time for other things, as I would not have myself busy with these tasks because they have already been worked on long before due.

In a way, this reduces procrastination. We procrastinate when we feel burned out most often. We run into doing what pleasures us, i.e., activities that are of no importance and not urgent in any form. You can, for example, spend a lot of hours on Instagram, TikTok reels, YouTube shorts, etc. Yeah, they are great for leisure time, but at a planned time and not as an escape route.

I am willing to learn this new approach and see how it can make my life better and bring balance to my activities, in particular. I learned about this system from the book I am currently reading, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". The book has opened my eyes to those qualities that effective people have, and I look at how I can learn and act on what is being said in this book.

I won’t lie, coming here alone is a lot of work not to talk if combining being a student, tech guy and all. I just hope that God continues to strengthen us because it’s not easy to balance everything together

Only a man with purpose and responsibility of self is interested in getting better. Waiting to the a task when it is almost due is not a good way, might end up not doing it so well like one should.

Tiktok and co should be visited when it's leisure time. Many of will be more successful if we had not done some right things at the wrong time.

True...Doing the right things at the right time is not always as easy, but takes self-awareness to do so.

Procrastination chased me for years, lately it has worked for me to create a list of tasks, I have it on the computer and I check the progress, I also set real deadlines to meet the activities, it seems unbelievable but what has helped me most is the rest, that has allowed me to start an activity with fresh mind and spirit.

What application do you use to note your task?

nothing special, just google calendar and take notes on ever note but I do try to accomplish every task I put on my calendar and if one day I feel that I cant get it done try to swap it with another task that I have set for days latter the key for me is to have some easy tasks I know I can accomplish without much effort because I know there will be days that life and time goes against me thats when procrastination kicks in, this is what has been working for me lately

Hmm I get what you are doing here... When you think there are not much time left or you don't feel too good for the big and heavy tasks, you swap it with the ones that can be easily done. This is smart.

Wow. I wish I have quite some funds to grow my HP by buying it. I can't do it now doesn't mean I would not be by tomorrow.
