Countdown to Christmas: A Nigerian Christmas Plan

Christmas is getting closer day by day. I have been seeing a lot of people online celebrating and have also been listening to a lot of Christmas playlists on Spotify. With the way it is online, I only wish that Christmas was celebrated in Nigeria the same way, but anyway, we choose the way we want to spend our holidays.

Without much planning and thinking, my Christmas is already planned, not by my first creation but by the circumstances of the situation, and it first begins with church and may end with church. Most of my activities outside of Hive and away from school are church-based. Without church in my life, I guess life may probably be so empty.

Next week, December 17, I would be having a Christmas celebration, or more like a Christmas carol, in church, for which I would be the main guitarist. For the past 3 to 4 months, I have been going to rehearsals for this programme, and the number of night rehearsals has increased lately because of how close the programme is.

There is no way I can miss this programme, even if I want to, because of the time I have personally invested in it. The sleepless night and the way I have so much connection to the songs and the montages we have planned for that day. It would all be a waste.

Moreover, the day would be meriful as there would be a lot of people that day in my church, and most of them would not be regular members. Aside from that, there would be invited guests, and most especially, a lot of food would be sold. I would prefer to save a lot of money for that day so that I would be able to spend on food and enjoy myself that day, especially.

After December 17, I would have to go home that week to Lagos as I would be having another church programme at home, which is also a carol, and I would also be the main guitarist for the programme. The programmes hosted at my church in Lagos are not really as exciting as the ones where I am in Abeokuta due to a lot of reasons like sound quality, number of people, and food available to be eaten, but more of the reason why I have to be there is that I am committed to them for the time being and I am the only one they have got to at least make the mood a lot better.

One of the things I would love to do this Christmas, and not really a celebration, is get to see @k-banti and @josediccus this year. I have not seen them since the last time we met last December, and moreover, I am concerned about their health. I would really like to visit him with K-Banti to see how he is doing since I would be around at that moment. I have really missed them, and I don't want circumstances to be a reason why we will not get to see them this year.

This is not a plan yet, but before the year runs out, I would really love to go out with Pearl just one more time. It has been months since we went out together, so this would count as a plan from now on.

I have really missed home, and this period at home is a sure bet that chicken will be killed at home and my mom will prepare special delicacies. Family members would also be visiting, and it would be really nice to be merry with my little cousins once more, then until next year again.
