Mushroom Monday - Miscellaneous Finds
Here are a few finds for the week for this #mushroommonday
The first find was some Ramaria formosa. This one has a common name of salmon coral fungi. Sadly this one is not edible and will cause stomach aches.
Next up is some cup fungi my sister found in Arizona after the monsoon rains over there.
It looks like a form of peziza fungi to me, there are many different species in this group so I'm not sure of the exact Latin name of this one. Plus it is probably pretty rare to see in a desert environment like Arizona.
Here is a polypore just starting to grow on a dead log. It looks a bit mangled because some dirt got kicked on it and it started growing around the dirt.
This side is even growing out of the dirt from the log underneath. I'll have to keep an eye on it to see if it forms into an identifiable shape.
Here is Royoporus badius aka the black leg. These can grow quite large and turn deep brownish red towards the end of their growth cycle.
Here's you can see why they call it the black leg or black footed polypore. The stem is nice and dark.
I missed a good batch of summer oysters. By the time I found them they got scorched by the sun.
I flipped some over to see if the gills were visible but they really dried out.
The last one is a ufo. I suspect it might be either a young chicken of the woods that dried out or possibly some kind of yellow slime mold. Too bad it got dried out before it grew to full size.
That's all for now hopefully the mushrooms will grow more around here from now on. Happy #mushroomonday :-)

Looks like you had some luck finding fungi this week 🙂 I had some foraged chanterelle mushrooms this week. On burgers Friday then in an omelette on Saturday morning. Unfortunately not foraged by me. A friend was feeling charitable.
Wow the chants are already out over there? I better look more closely over here for them, they are the one reliable mushroom I can find over here.
Again, its from your post I realize that I live already in Monday!
Awesome finds, Peziza sp. was a highlight of your post for me.
Nominated for #OCD curation, and wish you more great finds,-- the season is slowly climbing to its peak. 🍄
The grayish ble peziza is a new one for me. Fortunately my sister found it for me in the desert monsoons, otherwise it would be the normal looking brown peziza.
The cup fungi you have uploaded here are a very rare species of fungi in that family and not commonly seen. It can be geopora sumneriana, but there top edges looks quite rough.
The last one is dog vomit slime mold, and nothing to fear about it.
All the images are amazing and very detailed.

Aha dried out dog vomit slume mold most likely. I'll look up that geopora.

I love forest walks and love looking at mushrooms, but always so wary about getting too close.
Pretty muchall mushrooms are fine to handle just don't eat the ones you aren't sure about lol.
I'm always worried the spores will affect my allergies :D
Probably the worst ones are the puffballs.
But only once they start drying. I hear they are completely edible when they are still white and firm.

Wow, that mushroom in your first picture is amazing, like a sponge.
It definitely looks like one, too bad its not edible I find lots of it around.
Awesome shots here dude! When I was around a nearby range, its always full of fungi. Also, it is torrential rain here right now, and always a lot pop up after this!
Ooo have you ever taken photos of them? They might be edible.
Yes I had quite some time back! Some were indeed edible :) I'll get a few snaps next time i'm out and see a lot of them
