1925 S California Silver Half Dollar and I found it in Hawaii!

I could never find it. I gave up. It has been in my Christmas list for many years now and even wrote about it some three years ago HERE.

I certainly did not expect to find anything worthwhile in that store. Not after the disappointment from the first one I visited.

But I am very happy that I did. I found it in Hawaii!

1925-S California Silver Half Dollar
Diamond Jubilee Commemorative

The 1925 S California Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar is one of the collector favorites among the early commemorative coins. The issue was authorized to mark the 75th anniversary of California’s statehood. This was minted in San Francisco in 1925.

The obverse of the coin features a kneeling figure of a “forty-niner” as he pans for gold. Inscriptions include “Liberty”, “In God We Trust”, “California Diamond Jubilee” and “1925”. The reverse features an image of a grizzly bear, which comes from the state emblem of California. Inscriptions read “E Pluribus Unum”, “United States of America”, and “Half Dollar”. Both the obverse and reverse of the California Half Dollar were designed by sculptor Joseph Mora.

Isn't this design so iconic? Iconic of California... Northern California that is... the regions San Francisco and the Sacramento to be specific.

It is the American Prospector panning for gold.

The grizzly bear had California to itself for hundreds of thousands of years as the state’s largest and fiercest predator.

The California grizzly bear is the State Animal.

It is so appropriate that I found and bought this 1925 California Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Half Dollar in my Hawaii!

I like it so much that I am on a tubular journey to collect silver rounds with this design. I have it in Gold American Prospector too!

Wow! Come to think of it, the equivalent of this slabbed coin approximates that of the silver rounds together!

I now own a 1925 S California Diamond Jubilee
Commemorative Half Dollar.

I can cross it off the list! Yay!

😍#ilikeitalot!😍

From 1892 through 1954, legislation authorized the U.S. Mint to produce commemorative coins for 53 different events, occasions, or individuals. This resulted in the Mint producing over 180 silver and gold commemorative coins.

The Half Dollar Commemoratives that I posses are:

Many times, I've wondered what I would do with my stack. At the same time, I've wondered if I'll go back to my roots. I was stuck with the mindset that you stack in case of an emergency... well I have my emergency fund for that. Now, I stack with the purpose of buying back a piece of my past.
Hugs and kisses 😍🌺🤙

I am always looking at it, and it's going to be for a while before I put it away @littlebee4 .
Only to look... not to be playing with it. It's older than my parents by 27 years, hehehe,
Have a pleasant evening, and hugs and kisses 😘🤗

I can imagine that… like a new toy when you were a kid.
Treasure it… enjoy it but not play with it.
Only 9 years older than my mom. (She got me late in her second marriage) 18 years than my dad.

Thank you so much @silversaver888
Time to go to bed here… almost… 00:49am now.
Enjoy your evening too 👋🏻😁🌺💃🏻
Biggg huggg 🤗🤗 and kisses 😘

Wow, it is interesting to know that the bear on this coin taken from the Bear Flag of California when there was revolt against Mexican government.

It is indeed great to have both versions silver and gold. What a commemorative combo. Once the best collections ever.

Looks amazing, I don't have any graded coins like this yet, I seen some at my local shop but they are all pretty expensive so i never got one I try to focus on the stacking but maybe someday I spoil my self with a really expensive collectible piece
