New Downtown Truckee Photo

Downtown Truckee, California shot Tuesday night. This one is a bit unique... If you look closely, you'll notice that about half of Downtown Truckee is dark, without power. A wet and heavy snow storm followed by wind brought down a bunch of trees and power lines. Well, it made for an interesting photo but I am now on day 3 without power at my house.

Fortunately, the wood burning stove is keeping us warm, we have a generator running, the fridge is cold, the phones are charged, and I was able to get my computer up and running so I could get photos to clients and work on this new one (and make this post). I'm using my phone's 4G mobile hot spot, slow but very happy to have it. Oh, and a snow berm angel has cleared my big driveway berm twice so that's another win! (Thank you snow berm angel guy!)

I hope you are all having a great day!

@derangedvisions It always looks magical this time of year, especially when we have fresh snow for the lights to reflect off of. Cheers!

Wow, I want to be there right now, despite the power outages. The Christmas vibe makes me feel like a kid again.

Day 4 now... We might bail and head to the city (Reno) tonight. Usually I love Truckee this time of year.

Very cool, and awesome of you to seize the opportunity and go shoot this. I don't know what Truckee normally looks like, but I imagine your shot with both the snow and power outtage is one of a kind.

Also I love that you have a wood burning stove. It sounds like the most cozy little place right now. Have a wonderful Christmas, and I hope your power is restored shortly

lack of power added to the phot. it looks great.

so 4 days no power? That sucks.

last weekend we had a bit of a power crises as to incompetent government and i realized i am not ready for power failure. (last generator we had got stolen years ago, never got to it to buy another...)

Thanks. They all suck. Dude, the generator was literally a life saver. Ok, the fire was more important but I was able to keep clients happy and the family fairly happy thanks to the generator and 4G. Oh, now the power is back on! For about 3 hours now. It's also Friday night, so I'm celebrating! Cheers!

wanted to say, at least now they fixed the grid so you are fine, but with all that snow and cold they probably just patched it up with duct tape :)

Unfortunately, there are still parts of my neighborhood that are dark, but mine is still on. And the internet is now back too! Come on duct tape... hang in there...
