AseanHive Challenge #42: Show me your dipper- The Relevant Usage of Various Dippers At Home
The Tabo or Kabo
Tabo or kabo as we call it in layman's term is one of the most useful things that are commonly used by Pinoys at home especially in our kitchen, lavatories and "comfort zones":).
Dippers are displayed even in supermarkets. There are different sets of dippers with a pail or bucket we commonly call "balde",a small basin, hangers and the tabo.
As you can see on the above photos, there are colorful dippers displayed at the newly opened supermarket in our locality. These tabos are changed when the old ones needed a replacement already. They often end up as flowerpots or plant sprinklers.
Tabo for Watering the Plant
I use the tabo when I water the smaller plants and the newly grown plants for fear that it will be uprooted when I use the garden hose. Those are the newly planted African violets.
Tabo for bathing
Our 1-year old baby enjoys wallowing inside his bathtub with his little dipper too. There's a big pail and tabo beside which we use for bathing, washing and for hygiene purposes. There's a shower up there but it's kinda different when you enjoy pouring the water over your head using the tabo! Believe it or not guys, Antonia's mom even inserted a tabo in her luggage when she went to Germany because she knows that there's no tabo there! LoL!
Tabo & Pumice Stone Together
One more thing, there's an old habit that are still remembered that goes along with the tabo and that is the Lugod(pumice stone) which is used for scrubbing the calloused areas of the body such as the feet, elbows, arms, legs, back, etc..:) I could still remember when we would take a bath beside the river bringing along our tabo with the pumice stone inside. Well, we have the loofah and a scrub but it's really different when we use the pumice stone hahaha!
Little Tabo for coffee
I also have a petite dipper guys! It's more than 3 decades old. My hubby sent a package with Folgers Coffee with that small dipper. Actually, we have electric and manual coffee makers though I preferred mixing a brewed coffee in a flour sack cloth. Lol!
There are times when there's water interruptions so I store some amount of water beside our sink then cover it with a little dipper on top to avoid spoiling the water.
Of course, I use it to pour some hot water to prevent from scalding. I only boil good for 1 cup so I don't need the big coffee pot.:)
Multiple Role
See, dippers come in different usage at home and it's one among the "busiest" utilities in the Pinoy's household. Show me your dippers guys! The more scratch it has means it has silently served you longer you still feel sorry to part from it. I even tried to mend it with thin cords that my daughter would say "mama, let it rest in peace as it has already served you long enough!" Sigh ...
This is all for now, thanks to @justinparke for this enjoyable challenge. I am inviting my hive readers to join in this contest as well.

Wow, you still have an original dipper. I prefer metal dippers, but they are nearly impossible to find now because the plastic ones are cheaper and more popular. I sometimes take my dipper to the river with a bar of soap and a washcloth for a scenic shower that doesn't require any pumped water.
