Eveeytime rain falls, I remember one chilly experience I had with the rain that made me resolve in my heart to always carry my portable umbrella whenever the clouds look funny 😁
I was in my 2nd year in the University when the incident happened.
A Lecturer gave an assignment and asked us to submit it in two days time by 10am Prompt.
Due to how short and lengthy the time frame and assignment were, I paid a friend who works in my school's ICT centre to help me do it as I was pretty occupied that period. It was a whole 5 page work that involved a lot of writing and drawing and to cap it all up, another Lecturer gave us another assignment still to be submitted on the same day; like they planned it. 🙄
That fateful morning, I got ready to leave my house when there was a big thunder strike and it started to rain.. I didn't have an umbrella then, so I had to wait for the rain to calm down a bit before I left the house.
20 minutes went by but there was no single sign of the heavy rainfall stopping. Then 30 minutes passed again, still the rain got heavier with even more thunderstorms.
Meanwhile on my class WhatsApp group, my course rep was singing that we must all submit the assignments at the stipulated time or else, he would submit the ones he had and the others who wouldn't submit will have no C.A (Continuous Assessment) score.
I thought to myself, "Isn't this guy or even the Lecturer seeing how heavy the rain is and be considerate enough to extend the time a little for us?" but they didn't so I had no other option than to enter the rain and go submit the assignment.
I had not yet collected the assignment from my friend who did the work for me so I went to his office to get it and guess what? He forgot the assignments in a file in his house so we had to go to his house to pick it up, still under the rain.
At this point, I was doing my best to calm down all the angry bones and nerves in my body. 😅😅

I was so upset that day that my friend who had never seen me in such state pleaded and pleaded; I just tried to put up a little smile for his sake.
I got the assignment and hurried to class. I was drenched in the rain but I didn't mind. I was doing it all for my precious 30 marks. 😊
To my utmost surprise and consequent anger, I got to the class only to find few persons sitting calmly doing their assignments when we were supposed to be submitting at that time. Infact, one particular guy just begun doing his own.
I was furious because all my sacrifice of being drenched in the rain was for nothing and immediately I submitted, the rain stopped falling. 🥲 I could have calmly waited at home until the rain stopped before I made my move ; I would not have lost anything at all.
Well, I learned not to be jumpy when it comes to carrying out important tasks but to take my time and do them. I also promised myself to get a portable umbrella to be on standby as my backup for the rainy season.
