What part of your life needs a reset?

Change is constant but adopting to change is terrifying at the beginning, but will be thrilling after a long time...

Transformation is necessary to cope with the bodily change that comes with age and for me the start was terrifying because it was not wishful, rather forcible because of some health issues, that started popping up in 2018. So for last five years, I ran to live and not die, reducing more than 20% of my weight. And interestingly, this transformation has now been converted to a hobby that I don't want to stop till I am alive, because now only, I am realizing and enjoying it's true benefits - a light weight body, full of energy, that helps me to overcome my stress level as well. It's like getting all the energy at the morning and then consume through out the day. Sitting for long hours, for so many years (more than two decades) had almost killed the sportsman inside me, but last six years transformation to not miss exercise, makes me feel traversing back to my twenties. In my last health check up, two severe issues were reported, but they were just at the beginning stage, and when I asked the doctor, if there is any problem with doing exercise, he said, they will only help to reduce them, there is no medicine to cure those issues. So you see, even with so much advancement, medical science does not have answer for everything.

And exercise is just one part, that takes care of physical health which does support mental health, but we also need some transformation to deal with mental health. It's like both of them are complementary to each other - you loose one, the other will not listen to you.

Periodical reassessment of priority is necessary to determine what to hang on and what to let go. This is the only way to deal with stress - nobody else can help you with that, even a doctor. You have to set your own boundary that you can manage happily. You have already seen some of my previous minimalist posts on that, I have been trying to do things that I love to, which makes me happy, and let go other stuff. I am not fully contained yet, but it's work in progress. The true happiness of life is to have that eternal happiness that comes within - detachment accelerates our journey, but it's not easy to detach, especially from our responsibilities, which we should not as well. So we have to continue doing our duty and at the same time, stop expecting beyond that. Earlier I always tried to make everything perfect, but then perfection is an illusion - someone taught me on this chain. So instead of draining ourselves, better to let it go.

And lastly, enjoying small little things, is very helpful for mental peace. Five decades back, people had happiness in small little things and probably there were very few with diabetes and BP. Unfortunately everything has now changed, and it's like we all are running a race, which does not have an end.

Do you enjoy the food every time, all the time ? Poor people work hard to earn the food, but they enjoy it. Rich people work hard just to be able to enjoy the food - so the race we run, feels like illusion at the end ( end of our life, as there is no end of the race) and unfortunately, by the time we realize, most of our time is gone. So the sooner we realize, the better it is....We all want our life to be fulfilling, and we only have to decide how.

A sedentary lifestyle particularly in the workplace is one of the occupational hazards and become too monotonous. A sportsman will surely suffocate in such an environment and will remain averse to such a lifestyle be it work or personal space.

So you see, even with so much advancement, medical science does not have answer for everything.

Medicinal science has not even cracked the code of mental health. Irony is that those so-called happy countries have high suicidal rates per 1000. So mental health is real and it needs attention, unless we interface with nature and shed synthetic life, I hardly believe we can achieve a visible result. Meditation, running, going into nature, listening to the sound of silence, etc are the true treasures of mental peace.

The true happiness of life is to have that eternal happiness that comes within

We are happy being from the get-go. The only issue is that we have not explored that happy being inside us, and yes I would agree with you that the minimalist approach is one of the paths forward to find that trail to that happy being inside us.

I doubt if rich people enjoy their food. They have a differrnt craving which can never be satisfied with food. ..they just eat food to live. .....everyone know health is key for well being but not everyone work to achive a good health...it is great to learn about your well being.

We usually learn the hard way and same happened with me as well, but once I am there, I should not do the same mistake again. There are still some people who regularly work out to stay fit, but that percentage is very less.

Exercise is really a drug -free solution. I continued this after realizing how useful the exercise was for health. Now I see the benefit. I show 10 years younger than my real age.

Keeping your body fit is very important, I am surprised to know that you have lost 20% weight. This is a lot. If someone becomes fat, it is not good to look at and diseases attack the body.. By controlling your weight, you can avoid many other diseases, including diabetes, stroke, and heart attack. We want to live, and to do this, we must take care of our bodies. Exercise is essential for good health. At the same time, diet should be controlled. Excess food causes many problems. Poor people work hard and eat less food. Therefore, they have fewer diseases. They are less likely to suffer from stroke and heart disease. This is an example of how a beautiful life can be achieved if everything is in moderation.

I do agree that we need to enjoy all aspects of our life, simple things like eating. We all live so crazy different lives, some enjoy every meal, some struggle to find enjoyment in their meals.

If we look back to our roots, we will be happy we get to live at such a wonderful time in human history where we can experience as much as we like, so we must enjoy it!
