Having Fun On Hive - The (Social) Blockchain for Web3

I wanted to do a movie review, however, I changed my mind, I'd write this post.

Yeah, the title is simple, A better one might be;

Can we have fun on Hive while making money?

A few times I've been asked by newbies what makes a post quality. Do you have to write 1000 plus words? Or do you have to put alot of pictures in a post? What exactly?

Honestly, I have asked myself these questions starting out but for some reason, I did not give myself an answer. Most times, the question comes from thinking about the reward system. Most whales and curators always carry the sign "curating quality posts" only. While it is understandable why they carry out curating in that manner, The question that newbies would keep asking is what a quality post is.

In this post, I recommend people stop asking questions and focus on having fun and being social. Hive is a really good place to have fun, It is more than social Media

Quality Posts ≠ Rewards

The truth is these two don't always go hand in hand and it's important to understand that. While I'm yet to define what a quality post is, I can say that it's not every time you make a quality post that it earns you fat rewards and this happens for a good reason.

One, it's reminding you to forget about the rewards and have fun:

I think it would be more interesting if people start writing more fun stuff on Hive. Alot of people do, however, there are way too many serious posts here.

Good thing #threads are available at Leofinance, This way people can have a bit more fun with happenings around the world.

Another reason is that the rewards need to spread:

Yes very importantly. Because I write 3000 words every 6 hours doesn't mean I deserve to be on the trending list every time I make a post. some people who have a very high reputation can do it, But they don't. While when some do, you can also see that many times, they decline rewards.

Am I saying you should not write multiple times a day?

No, All I'm saying is, that rewards should not necessarily be expected every time a quality post is written.

With new users joining every day, it is very important and encouraging they get upvotes. I think most of the whales here factor that into consideration.

What do I mean?

Take, for example, 3speak Tv, they curate video contents that are of good quality and are posted directly on the 3speak app. If a video has over 10 comments and 10 views, it would most likely receive an upvote from 3speak.

But does that mean all videos would get an Upvote?

I remember after that episode with @eddiespino, I got questions from some people asking why they didn't get an upvote even when they met the criteria.

I asked them what happens if everyone posts a video on the same day and meets the criteria - Do we all receive upvotes?

Obviously not, there is a "voting mana" for a reason. At the same time, No one is entitled to how another person uses their stake. I think this is something that needs to be spoken about.

Just Have Fun & Leave the Rest

Like I said yesterday, we have something more than the regular social media in our hands. We are part of something that has a future. At the moment, The market is falling and if it keeps falling, many weak projects would be affected. We have something that isn't going to collapse and it is important we understand it.

I don't know what anyone thinks but personally, I feel like it's easier to enjoy what Hive offers when you kill off expectations. On popular web 2 base applications, we don't get paid, yet we spend so much time having fun there.

We can have the same fun here too. over time communities that encourage fun have been created. Liketu is a perfect example, Our very own Instagram. And since it's powered by Hive, it is worth more than Instagram to me.

Recently, I posted in the comedy community. It was fun :) - There is also a community to rant and complain hehehehe.

Let's start having fun today, It's worth it

I totally agree with you. Quality posts many times doesn't matters and you can get upvotes on simple posts by some reward systems. The fact is peoples even don't read or quality posts if if is not interesting.

I agree that things are getting a lot serious on Hive and that's something worth talking about... however we want to put it, social media is a place people would want to have fun at the very least, even after reading and curating serious contents for a while they has to be something to cheer them up a bit..thank God for #threads and the comedy community...

I've for a long time stop thinking too much about the rewards...I've always tried to understand how the whole voting system works but it only gave me headache...so I just left it and started to do my thing...you'll still get the votes you deserve as long as you keep making quality posts...a wise man had always told me to have fun and I think I have tried my best to do that.. the future is surely beautiful and bright ❤️

Quality Posts ≠ Rewards

Yes, remembering that votes are not guaranteed is very important. You’ll find better several quality posts with small rewards because there are sooo many quality posts that everyone can’t be curated. What is important in my opinion is to grow a following. Your following are interested in your content and will give it a read and curate if it’s quality enough according to their standards.

I think for us newbies, getting curation is a little tougher because we just started out and are at the mercy of curators. This makes it even more important to engage with community and grow a following.

Perfectly said. With or without rewards, the fun we have, the friends we make, the new things we learn all make Hive a wonderful place to be ❤
