School diaries: Under my umbrella ☂️

Another successful art class finished last Friday. With the students from the fourth grade we made beautiful umbrellas and filled them with autumn leaves. I had prepared the printable cut outs at home (thank you canva.com for all the help), I used the school copy machine to make multiple copies and then the kids would do all the work. The point was to exercise their fine motor skills, use their imagination, combine the season we are with specific colors, images of nature and activities and of course have fun and relax.

The children started by coloring their umbrellas and leaves. Next, they cut them out and tried to fold the semicircular shapes... Not with much success. That's where I had to step in and fold their umbrellas.

Glues took over after that. They glued the folded umbrellas on their sheets of paper and glued the cut out leaves inside them.

Each kid used their imagination and personal taste, you can see some used markers while others preferred colored pencils.

In the end we gathered all their works of art on the big table in the classroom. There we took photos and decided not to hang out artwork on the wall. I thought it would be better their class teacher decided where to put them, as she may have more plans with her classroom walls and I didn't want to mess with those.

I'm sure she'll find a nice spot for our umbrella exhibition.

And now I'm brainstorming again... I have four hours of Art this week and I need to find new projects for my little ones and the older students as well. Luckily, there is the internet with its huge idea pool and I bet I'll find something cool in no time!

I really admire and appreciate the capacity of teachers or parents who have creativity like you do, Mrs. @ruth-girl. You are so brilliant.

Creativity like this can not only develop children's motor skills. Even worse than that is to keep the children busy with their activities with gadgets that damage them.

Thank you for your very inspiring post.
