[LOH 109] A Memorable Birthday, Filled with My Favorite Foods and My Favorite People

Is it weird that sometimes I can imagine my own death? I can imagine leaving the world with a smile on my lips, but I can't imagine how I will die. I am just like a smelly fart that, after some time, will just disappear. It will leave a stinking smell, but after that, it will vanish without a trace.

Death is inevitable; it will happen no matter what, and depending on our luck, we will either die of old age or in an accident. I don't want to die in the most brutal way but can we really choose how the way we want to die? If it's time then it will come. And we can't really do anything about it. If I can only choose, I want to die in my sleep.

But don't get me wrong, I am never afraid of death. I know that we will all die, and that's how we will end. And to be honest, I am more afraid of being left behind, so I'd rather choose to die before my family. Call me selfish, but I really hate seeing my loved ones leave me, one by one. I think I will die of sadness if they ever leave me here alone.

Death is an unusual topic of conversation, but remembering death makes us appreciate life. If this were your last birthday, how would you like to celebrate it and why?

I am really not fond of a bonggarous or extravagant kind of celebration, as I preferred a simple one with close family. I don't want to feel awkward with a lot of people on my own birthday, so I'd rather it be only those closer to me with whom I can be comfortable. I want it if I can without being shy because they are a family.

Simple but meaningful, that's how I want it. I want to celebrate it in our house with my loved ones. If ever I will die at a certain age, for sure I have already achieved something at that age. Maybe my portfolio has already grown and I can already use that in this celebration. Perhaps Hive in that time is already at $100 or more and I am already a millionaire.

With that said, for sure I can already afford to spend more on my own birthday. I will ask my Mama to cook for me my favorite spaghetti, Pilipino style, with a lot of hotdogs. That's one of the dishes that shouldn't be missing from this celebration.

I will also help in the preparation, and I will cook my favorite Lumpiang Shanghai (Filipino Spring Roll), which is everyone's favorite. I will make two versions, one with meat and one with veggies, for my mom. And I will make a lot of it for family and close friends who will attend on that day.

I will ask my Mommy D to cook her specialty, pork caldereta, as it is also one of my favorite dishes paired with white rice. A birthday celebration will be boring without rice, hehe. I love rice, just saying.

And if it's not too much, I will also ask her to cook her specialty, a creamy gelatin with lots of toppings. This is the best after being refrigerated for an hour.

This is how I want to celebrate my birthday for the last time. with a big smile on my face and with only happiness in my heart and nothing else. I will play lots of good and lively songs for that celebration, so it will be more fun. I will dance to my heart's content and enjoy every second of it.

After that, I will go to the nearest beach in our area. I will spend a little time there, and I will enjoy the calm sea and its little waves. I will enjoy the calmness of that place and savor it while thinking.

In the end, I want to be alone after that simple celebration with the family and close friends. I will reminisce about the past and reflect on the good things that happened to me. At least on my last birthday, I was the happiest. I will die happy.
