Unique design and architecture of meunasah

Picsart_23-01-28_00-17-39-134.jpg

Hello Hivers

Hi friends, I'm back to greeting all of you who are here and will share some pictures about the uniqueness of the meunasah in my area, before starting further, maybe you will wonder what meunasah and MEUNASAH are is a local name for a place of worship that is found in every village in my country, its function is almost like a mosque but the difference is, the meunasah is smaller and is devoted to that one village only, if the mosque is more in the public interest (covers several villages), and meunasah only exists in ACEH, not in any province in Indonesia, even if there is it is not exactly the same both in terms of use and building, in some places the designation of meunasah is also often known as SURAU but in cities, called MUSHALLA but it has a different function

Now, on this occasion, I will try to review one of the meunasah which is not far from my house. This meunasah is quite well known in this area because it has a very attractive building shape and design that is ready to spoil the eyes of anyone who passes by it. If we need to linger, let's start the discussion

This is the front view of this meunasah, the main reference in its construction still contains customs and culture that are still well preserved, before that I have also distributed an ACEH traditional house, and if you pay close attention, this one building also has a resemblance to a traditional house, only of course this is a place of worship and also has other functions for the needs of the village, apart from that, pay attention to the design and architectural style that is on the front of this beautiful building, along with the picture

This building is shaped like a stilt house which has 20 pillars as the main pillars, and has a height of about 8 meters, the shape of the roof is pointed and the color selection is very beautiful, but what is most striking in this building is the design at the top, carved beautiful calligraphy it was carved by hand, not a wallpaper that was pasted on, everything that looks purely hand-carved from the designer, this kind of skill is not owned by everyone, it takes a high level of accuracy to make these calligraphy carvings, especially in a fairly high position

Apart from that, the wall structure of the meunasah is also shaped like a board, even though this building is completely made of concrete, it is intended that its traditional values are not lost. already modern, and this is the result of architectural design collaboration, a mixture of classic and modern styles

The shape of the window is also very cute, with several small protruding bars, accompanied by carvings typical of the Middle East which is the basic reference for our culture, and the roof used is also unique, as far as I know the roof is made of a type of piper. not zinc or tile, this can be seen from the color which fades easily, if it is tile, then the paint used will not fade easily, at best it only fades little by little

This building is built on a small plot of land that is about two hectares, and in this area there are also several other buildings too, such as the village head's office and a kindergarten school, I will share pictures of that later, now let's first look at the side of this building

This is how it looks from the side of this beautiful building, and what is unique is, from this side is the entrance, with a staircase that has beautiful carvings and shapes, ready to welcome us with its beauty

These steps are made of ceramic, I'm 100% sure this time, it's different when I reviewed a cafe a while ago, their stairs really confused me😅, but forget about that and let's get back to the topic

Beautiful carvings are also found at the top of the terrace at this entrance, and after passing through the stairs, several other architectural designs begin to appear again, such as the ceiling, and some of the beauty in this building, let's see

Isn't it luxurious, the interior in this room is no less than other magnificent buildings, even though it is small, this building has an extraordinary aesthetic value, even the ceiling used also has a design in the style of a magnificent building, choosing the right color is of course very influential in in terms of appearance, and most importantly, anyone will definitely feel very comfortable when in this room

In one corner, you can see a special curtain placed there, that is a special room for women, if there is a woman who wants to worship in this meunasah then that corner is the place for them

I came here in the afternoon and was in a bit of a hurry, because it was getting dark and the weather was also cloudy, therefore I tried my best to get all the pictures in this area, now we are back outside this room

Beautiful furniture is also shown on this staircase, this wood is carved and also in unique shape, look at the shape of the stairs, what other style they took when building it, everything looks amazing, besides, once you start going down the stairs, the view is amazing. it looks cool too, on the right side there is another building visible, and on the left side, we will be greeted by the green grass in the yard, and right in front of another building you can also see it, that is a place to take ablution and toilet, I of course also take pictures of the building

This is the office of the village head that I said before, and the other one you know for sure, right? I didn't take many pictures of these two buildings, because the weather was getting dark, and before actually leaving this place I also took a few pictures other

The lower part also has a function that is also guided by the old culture, in the past the houses in Aceh were indeed shaped like this with the aim that wild animals would not easily enter the house, remember, but now, the underbelly of a building like this is often used as a parking lot for people who visit this place, besides saving land, it can also provide an opportunity to be able to take better care of the building's courtyard, and by the way this building has a beautiful courtyard, take a look at the bottom picture, it's amazing isn't it

The hanging decoration also makes the appearance of the whole area look more beautiful. Some time ago, the Prophet's birthday celebration was just held in this place, and that's when the decoration was installed.

This building is located right on the edge of the highway, and has a gate and guardrail made of stainless steel, with a very attractive design, I had a little trouble taking pictures from this angle, because it is directly adjacent to the highway, not to mention it's raining too it was starting to go down by that time, and above are some of the best pictures I have from this angle, even though you can't see the whole beautiful courtyard area, the beauty of the main building is still clearly visible even from quite a distance, even it will be seen when driving past this place

So, that's what I can share this time, it's great to be able to continue sharing with you here, I hope you like it and see you in the next post

Have a good weekend 🙏

how beautiful this meunasah is. Ah, yes I've heard that the bottom or underside of the stilt house model is to protect against wild animals. This cool!

That's right, there used to be a lot of wild animals that like to enter the house,

Are you Indonesian, how is it called for this type of meunasah in your city

I had never heard of meunasah before. So far I only know mosques and Mushala. Thanks for introducing this! This meunasah is very unique.

Wow, what a huge house on stilts @roronoa46! I said "house" because I witnessed similar structures during my travels in Cambodia but on smaller proportions. And this is actually the first time I've learned that special building (a meunasah) is used for religious purposes, much like a mosque's function but not as grand. 👍😊

Why have "STILTS" become traditional structural elements for monuments in Indonesia, especially in Aceh? What triggered this architectural revolution?

You are right, meunasah only exists in Aceh, not in any province in Indonesia

And yes, the "corn" you mean is the symbol of Aceh, Aceh is not actually a province but a country, but when the colonial period used to be Aceh joined Indonesia, and Aceh had "privileges" from any point of view, we even had our own laws here without holding on to Indonesia, that's what aceh is special about

No not the "Corn" but I'm referring to the "Stilts" used as structural components.

Owh yaa🤭😅, It only aims to preserve the culture, probably because aceh is still very thick in the customs and culture of its people, and if you come here, there will be hundreds of such buildings in each region

First of all, thank you for introducing us to meunasah. Looking at the photos and content, it is clear that the meunasah is full of mesmerizing architectural features. The front look brings beauty with various designs. The architecture inside is also beautiful beyond words. The shape and designs of meunasah and wa windows are creatively made.
