Avances en la habitación de Miranda/ Progress in Miranda's room 🖌🔨

Hello gente de Hive! Cómo anda todo? Por aquí como saben he estado ocupada en la restauración de los muebles del cuarto de Miranda, que aunque todavía no va a mudarse porque debemos resolver otros detalles que van a tomar un poco más de tiempo, queremos que desde ya tenga un espacio propio para que vaya decorándolo a su gusto con todas sus cositas de k-pop y pueda estudiar y pasar el rato en él cuando lo desee y decidí comenzar con todo lo que es el mobiliario de la habitación.

Hello, Hive community! How’s everyone getting on? As you know, I’ve been busy restoring the furniture for Miranda’s room. Although she isn’t moving in just yet—as we still need to sort out a few other details that will take a bit more time—we want her to have her own space right away so she can decorate it to her liking with all her K-pop bits and bobs, and so she can study and hang out there whenever she wants. So I decided to start with all the furniture for the room.

Ya les he comentado que la habitación que destinamos para Miranda era la de una de mis hermanas y aunque estaba amoblada ella prefirió un juego de cuarto que se encontraba en una de las habitaciones de la planta baja y que pertenecía a mis padres, y se trata de una cama matrimonial con dos mesitas de noche que debían ser pintadas en los tonos que Miri escogió que fueron blanco y lila, así que me activé con eso.

La cama y las mesitas eran blancas con azul oscuro, siendo el único color que cambiaría como tal el azul, aunque obviamente tocaba pintar todo lo blanco ya que tenía un tono amarillento, y la verdad es que me dio bastante trabajo, sobre todo el espaldar de la cama, pero por dicha ya están listas y quedaron súper lindas con el toque desgastado que le di a las gavetas de las mesitas de noche que van súper bien con el estilo vintage del juego de cuarto.

I’ve already mentioned that the room we set aside for Miranda used to belong to one of my sisters, and although it was already furnished, she preferred a bedroom set that was in one of the downstairs rooms and belonged to my parents—a double bed with two bedside tables that needed to be painted in the colours Miri had chosen, which were white and lilac, so I got straight to work on that.

The bed and bedside tables were white with dark blue, with blue being the only colour I actually needed to change, although obviously I had to repaint all the white parts as they had a yellowish tinge, and to be honest it was quite a job, especially the headboard, but thankfully they’re now finished and look absolutely lovely with the distressed finish I gave the drawers of the bedside tables, which go perfectly with the vintage style of the bedroom set.

Otro de los muebles que ya está listo es la cómoda o peinadora, que Miranda usará como escritorio o zona de trabajo, y que estaba pintada del mismo azul oscuro que los otros muebles, a excepción de las gavetas que estaban pintadas de color beige, y como se imaginarán pasar de azul oscuro a blanco tomó muchísimo trabajo, comenzando con lijar toda la superficie para retirar un poco de la pintura azul y finalmente dar muchas pero muchas capas de blanco, tanto a la estructura del mueble como a las gavetas que después pinté de lila y les apliqué también el falso decapado que usé para las gavetas de las mesitas de noche.

De momento esos son los muebles que ya están listos en cuanto a color se refiere, ya que luego debo aplicar una capa protectora a todos, y por ahora estoy trabajando en el closet, específicamente en las repisas expuestas que las pinté primero de blanco, luego de lila y finalmente apliqué el falso decapado, además comencé a pintar de blanco la pared y la parte del closet donde van las repisas para luego pintar el resto del closet de color blanco.

Another piece of furniture that’s now ready is the chest of drawers or dressing table, which Miranda will use as a desk or workspace. It was originally painted the same dark blue as the other pieces of furniture, except for the drawers, which were painted beige. As you can imagine, changing it from dark blue to white took a huge amount of work, starting with sanding the entire surface to remove some of the blue paint and finally applying many, many coats of white, both to the frame of the piece and to the drawers, which I then painted lilac and also applied the faux distressing that I used on the drawers of the bedside tables.

For now, those are the pieces of furniture that are ready in terms of colour, as I still need to apply a protective coat to all of them, and at the moment I’m working on the wardrobe, specifically the open shelves, which I first painted white, then lilac, and finally applied the faux distressed finish. I’ve also started painting the wall and the part of the wardrobe where the shelves go white, before painting the rest of the wardrobe white.

Como ven hemos trabajado bastante estos días, de hecho desde el sábado pasado no he parado de pintar y pintar pero estoy más que feliz de ver cómo todo está tomando forma y el cuarto de mi muñeca se está viendo súper lindo aunque todavía falta reparar la pared y pintar, así que prometo mantenerlos al tanto.

As you can see, we’ve been working hard these past few days; in fact, I haven’t stopped painting since last Saturday, but I’m absolutely delighted to see how everything is taking shape, and my doll’s room is looking really lovely, although we still need to repair the wall and give it a paint job, so I promise to keep you updated.
