It's Starting to Feel Fun

I've always wondered why nobody said anything about how difficult coming to this camp could be. Instead, most of the things I had seen online were just good stuff, making it look like this was some sort of heaven on earth.

Well, yesterday I got to have a little taste of that heaven on earth, and just like everyone else, I had to post a bit of it on my WhatsApp status. But as I did that, I immediately caught myself and told myself that this same thing I was doing was what the guy who came before me did, and that was what gave us the impression that it was nothing but fun over here.

You see, yesterday, my platoon played the football finals, and we won. This was the first time we were taking the first position in any sport, and we had participated in a number of them. We had taken the third position in volleyball, the second position in table tennis, and the third position in the 100m race, and we were not even in the top three in badminton.

So this was a huge win for us, one that we all definitely celebrated, and for a split second, it felt like the last two weeks of hell that I went through didn't exist, and that this whole place was suddenly fun. I think for a split second, I had even wished that we could stay a bit longer (we only have a few days left here).

Well, I quickly got back to my senses and erased that stupid thought from my head.

Anyway, unlike the other guys who mostly only talked about the good side of this place when asked, I plan on being different. I plan on being honest, telling everyone and anyone who asks about the various stages of trauma that I went through here, the fun I had, the beautiful people I met, the friends I made, and the countless hours I had to just stand on my feet while yelling out, “Sir, yes sir.”
