Fear brings results

Back in the day when I still was a kid, my dad would always caution me whenever he saw me sitting real close to the television, he said sitting that close would make me go blind and that scared me, so I whenever I was seeing any of my favorite shows, I always made sure to sit on the chair that was the furthest away, because the last thing I wanted was to get blind.

Looking back at that time and seeing how much screen time I use now on a daily, my dad probably would have seized every gadget I have if I still was a kid living at home and that is because I have an unhealthy amount of screen time and to be honest, if this thing causes blindness as fast as my dad made it look back in the day, I probably would have gone blind more than once by now.

But in my defense, what do you expect from a guy who spends the majority of his time indoors, talking to no one but his phone. Sometimes it gets so bad that even with someone in the room with me, I'm still on my phone doing nothing and everything at the same time.

You know, I've thought of how life would feel like if maybe my phone got stolen and I was too broke to get a new one. It probably would be healthy for me as I might try to socialize, even exercise more and probably notice things and people around me, but that also would be torture because what am I suppose to do when everyone is indoors, on their phone and minding their business.

Yeah I know I can read a book and all that but for how long will this new life last, not long if you ask me. Anyways, back to the topic being discussed.

You see, aside from the fact that my phone is like a companion to me, all of the work I do to put food on my table are done on my phone, although if I'm being honest, that's an excuse I always explore whenever I'm back home and my dad complains about me being on my phone for too long.

Now, talking about the amount of screen time I spend, if I'm up fifteen hours a day, I probably stay on my phone nothing less than thirteen hours, yup it's that bad. From the moment I get up from bed, to the moment I'm about going to bed, my phone is the first and last item I touch every day. It's an obsession that I wasn't even aware of until now as I write this.

Sadly, I usually don't even know when it's getting too much until I start feeling pains in my eyes, which has happened a couple of times in the past, so the plan now is get one of those anti blue ray glasses because I hear they're specially designed for people who have to spend a lot of time in front of a screen.

Hopefully, even with those glasses on, I still find a way to reduce my screen time by getting busy with some outdoor activities, probably engage more in sports like I used to in the past, I can't be on my phone while playing football, can I?

And if I find myself missing my phone, thoughts of my dad warning me about getting blind is more than enough to keep me outdoors, away from my phone.
