Extraño Concurso # 40/ A toda velocidad (Esp/Eng)

La Carrera de los Acantilados Rojos, es para los corredores más arriesgados, los que confían en la velocidad de sus naves con propulsión biotérmica ultraduradera.

Este año tienen un nuevo desafío, el Desintegra-2, un rayo desintegrador colocado en la recta La Iguana, antes de la curva más cerrada de la ruta. Un error y la caída es mortal, un lago de lava los engulliría rápidamente. Los habitantes de Nuk exigían cada vez más riesgos.

Se dio la partida y los vehículos volaron sobre la pista. La población seguía a través de sus pantallas móviles la competencia.

Las velocidades de los vehículos sobrepasaban los 1000 km/h. En cuatro horas ya han hecho la mitad del recorrido, 4000 km de desiertos con temperaturas sobre los 60 °C antes de llegar a los fríos valles de las lunas. Esta es una zona crítica, pues el cambio brusco de temperatura afecta a los microorganismos que producen la energía impulsora. Cincuenta vehículos se quedan sin combustible. Veinte continúan a través de las montañas, bajando la velocidad media a 500 km/h.

La última recta y el Desintegrador-2 está preparado. Un rayo invisible desaparece los primeros diez competidores de la pantalla. Se escuchan aplausos y gritos. Cinco logran esquivar al rayo a una velocidad máxima de 3000 km/h, pero caen en la curva.

Solo quedan cinco, están detenidos en la recta. ¿Qué harán?

Cuatro intentan regresar y son fulminados por el rayo.

El último corredor piensa unos minutos y enciende los motores. Inicia un rápido movimiento zigzagueante y esquiva al rayo. Al llegar a la curva disminuye la aceleración y la supera llegando a la meta.

Al otro lado de las montañas...

―El rayo pudo haberlo fulminado, ¿por qué lo dejaste llegar a la meta?

―Tienes mucho que aprender en el arte de ejercer el poder. Hay que darles un motivo para celebrar.

The Red Cliffs Race is for the most daring racers, those who rely on the speed of their ultra-durable biothermal propulsion craft.

This year they have a new challenge, the Disintegrate-2, a disintegrator beam placed on the La Iguana straight, before the sharpest curve of the route. One mistake and the fall was fatal; a lake of lava would quickly engulf them. The inhabitants of Nuk demanded more and more risks.

The start was given, and the vehicles flew over the track. The population followed the competition on their mobile screens.

The speeds of the vehicles exceeded 1000 km/h. In four hours, they had already covered half the distance, 4,000 km of deserts with temperatures above 60 °C before reaching the cold valleys of the moons. This is a critical area, as the sudden change in temperature affects the microorganisms that produce the driving energy. Fifty vehicles run out of fuel. Twenty continue through the mountains, dropping the average speed to 500 km/h (310 mph).

The last straight and Disintegrator-2 are ready. An invisible beam disappears the first ten competitors from the screen. Applause and shouts are heard. Five manage to dodge the beam at a top speed of 3000 km/h, but fall into the curve.

Only five are left; they are stopped on the straight. What will they do?

Try to turn back and are struck by the lightning.

The last runner thinks for a few minutes and starts the engines. He starts a fast zigzagging movement and dodges the lightning. When he reaches the curve, he slows down the acceleration and overtakes it, reaching the finish line.

On the other side of the mountains...

"The lightning could have struck him, why did you let him reach the finish line?

You have a lot to learn in the art of population control. You have to give him a reason to celebrate.
