Cat Mats and Jean Repairs

Hello needleworkers! It's your sporadic stitching friend, having actually completed some projects! Woohoo!

Earlier I knit up two cat mats, using the last of this red and green yarn that I had. One is for Yuan and one is for a friend's cat. They are double stranded worsted weight yarn on size 11 needles.

These have gone over well with other friends' cats, so I hope the other kitty likes them too. They're just a mini blanket for cats to lay on. 😸

The photo is them hanging up to dry after I washed them.

Then tonight I tackled some repairs on a pair of jeans.

I have never had them go at the seams like this; usually it's the knees that give out on me first. So you can see at first I was like, eh, it'll show a little but it's dark embroidery floss at the seam, I wasn't too worried about it. But by the time I got to the second section, I figured out a way to make it show less. :)

There was one small hole next to the seam I stitched up, too. I'll iron a patch on the inside later, perhaps.

And that was my stitching work of late! I look forward to seeing all the cool things you all have been doing. :) Happy #needleworkmonday!

You did a good job mending those jeans. It can be a little difficult on thicker fabrics like denim, but I like to use a ladder stitch wherever possible. It works invisibly on existing seams that have come apart, and also holes in the middle of fabric as long as they are straight and not too wide. Although, it can sometimes cause a gathered effect. I really do love the color of those cat mats you made. I find it so funny how there seems to be something very magnetic about knitted stuff for most cats. They are the ultimate comfort seekers. My own fur baby is totally addicted to a little pink and white striped throw blanket that someone knitted and then afterwards it was donated to the thrift store. It would have taken me an eternity to make, but it only cost $4.

Score on the blanket for your kitty! Yuan used to chew on my knit sweaters sometimes when he was younger. There was one made of poly yarn that I would even hear his teeth squeaking as he chewed on it! He never did any damage to them, I think he was cleaning his teeth? LOL. When I bought him dental toys with a similar texture, he wasn't interested in them.

Awwww, cats sure are furry little masterminds. They must know that because we love them so very much, we will let them get away with just about anything. I love how cats unabashedly go right after the things not initially intended for them. Then turn their noses up at anything the human brings that is more intended for the same purpose...lol

I can be so lazy at amending work like this. For the jean I will most likely get a sticker and stick it there. Sometimes I wish I know how to use the crotchet so I can make a fine crotchet work on the jean instead but you have taking your time to stitch this up.
Well done dear.
I love that cat mats and would gladly use it as a shawl instead 😀😊

If you knit, it would be easy to make a shawl like this! 😄
