A new bridge

I saw and look
It was in great despair
The great olatumi bridge
Linking 12 different towns

I saw and look
Remembering just how it went
The brutality and deaths
Of the young and old
Weak and strong
Intellectual and wise

I saw and look
The many funerals that took place
All from the rickety old bridge
Taking away many lives

I saw and look
Our leaders embezzle the taxes
Our dues and rates
All gone down the drain
Watching us suffer was their pleasure

I saw and look
As the villagers plotted against them
"Enough is enough"
I heard them voice out
They must be brought to book

I saw and look
A written appeal
Tendered to the highest local authority
Local government chairman

I saw and look
Surveyors and engineers
All rallying round
After the evidence of a rickety rusty bridge

I saw and look
Arrangements were made in a jiffy
The bridge was constructed with the best equipments
By the whites

I saw and look a drastic change
A change in the terrain
A positive change
It was now motorable
For the villagers to ply on

I look and saw
For the first time ever
Ekarika became a beneficiary of the bridge
He bought a taxi
And decided to fend for himself and his family
After all the bridge is now in a good condition

I decided to be his first passenger
I giggled as Ekarika drove past
On this same bridge
Now in a good and stable condition

Wow, this is awesome.

A beautiful poem of how a new bridge was built after all the embezzlement by the powers that be.
Now all of them are enjoying that same bridge.
