We took a short trip with our fellow teachers from school to Hasdümen Village, nestled at the foot of Mount Bozburun—considered one of the most majestic peaks of the Taurus Mountains, which encircle the Mediterranean like a vine. However, this place has an atmosphere quite different from that of ordinary villages. Nestled right in the heart of nature, with its hidden historical ruins, streams flowing with ice-cold water, and mysterious tales passed down from the past to the present, it was a place that captivated you the moment you arrived. One of the village’s most striking features was the crystal-clear spring water that emerged from deep within the earth, flowing from the mountains. For the villagers, this water was not merely a necessity—it had become the very essence of life itself. They had named this natural spring, which they would never trade for any other water, Pınargözü.

Akdeniz'i adeta bir sarmaşık gibi çevreleyen Toros Dağları'nın en heybetli noktalarından biri sayılan Bozburun Dağı'nın eteklerinde kurulu Hasdümen Köyü'ne okuldaki öğretmen arkadaşlarımızla küçük bir gezi gerçekleştirdik. Ancak burası sıradan köylerden çok farklı bir atmosfere sahiptir. Doğanın tam ortasında saklanmış tarihi kalıntıları, içinden buz gibi sular akan dereleri ve geçmişten bugüne anlatılan gizemli hikayeleriyle insanı ilk anda etkisi altına alan bir yerdi. Köyün en dikkat çeken yanlarından biri ise, dağların içinden doğup gelen ve toprağın derinliklerinden çıkan o berrak kaynak suyuydu. Köy halkı için bu su yalnızca ihtiyaç için değil, adete hayatın kendisi olmuştu. Başka hiçbir suya değişmeyecekleri bu doğal kaynak suya da Pınargözü adını vermişlerdi.

In memory of the teachers who were leaving our school, we all set off together for the village of Hasdümen, located in the Serik district of Antalya. This village was also the place where our fellow teacher was born and raised. It was Pınargözü—a place everyone in the village used and spoke of with admiration, a place that brought a sense of coolness to one’s heart just hearing its name.

Okulumuzdan ayrılacak olan öğretmenlerimizin anısına hep birlikte Antalya'nın Serik ilçesine bağlı olan Hasdümen Köy'üne doğru yol almıştık. Bu köy aynı zamanda öğretmen arkadaşımızın doğup büyüdüğü topraklardı. Buraya köyde herkesin kullandığı ve hayranlıkla bahsettiği adını bile duyunca insanın içinde serinlik hissettiren Pınargözü idi.

As we made our way toward the foothills of the Taurus Mountains, the scent of the village began to fill the air. The white stone and concrete gave way to pine trees and reddish-brown soil. As we continued along the road, I felt we were getting closer to nature. Hasdümen is small but looks like a treasure hidden among the greenery and the surrounding mountains.

Torosların eteklerine doğru ilerledikçe, köyün kokusu hissedilmeye başlamıştı. Beyaz taş betonlarının yerini çam ağaçları kırmızı renge çalan toz topraklar almıştı. Yolda ilerledikçe doğaya bir adım daha yaklaştığmızı hissediyorumdum. Hasdümen küçük ama etrafını çevreleyen dağlarıyla yeşilliklerin arasında saklı kalmış bir hazine görünümündedir.

Most people in this village make their living through livestock farming, agriculture, and trout farming. In particular, the trout restaurants established around the crystal-clear natural spring water provide a livelihood for the people living in this natural setting. Scattered among the mountains surrounding the village are a few single-story, detached houses. All of these houses are connected to the village of Hasdümen. The village has a school, a mosque, and a bridge that serves as the main access route to all the homes. Beneath this bridge flows a stream called Çetince, which the villagers use for their vineyards and gardens.

Bu köyde insanların çoğu hayvancılık, tarım ve alabalık işletmeciliğiyle geçimini sağlıyor. Özellikle buz gibi doğal kaynak suyun çevresinde kurulan alabalık restoranları bu doğanın içinde yaşayan insanların geçimini sağlıyor. Köyün etrafında dağların arasında tek katlı müstakil bir iki evler var. Bu evlerin hepsi Hasdümen köyüne bağlanmış. Köyde bir okul, bir cami ve birde herkesin ortak kullandığı tüm evlere gidecek yolu belirleyen bir köprü var. Bu köprünün altında da köy halkının bağ ve bahçesinde kullandığı Çetince adı verilen bir dere suyu geçiyor.

On our way to Pınargözü, we stopped briefly at the bridge in Hasdümen Village. Although it was a bit late, we all prepared and ate breakfast together by the stream, using the food we’d brought from home. As the steam rose from our tea on the small stove, the sound of the water was soothing to all of us. It was hot. The sun was really starting to make its presence felt. We couldn’t resist, so we took off our shoes and waded into the stream.

Pınargözüne giderken Hasdümen Köyü köprüsünde kısa bir mola verdik. Sabah kahvaltısını da biraz geçte olsa bu dere kenarının kıyısında evden getirdiklerimizle hep birlikte hazırlayarak yaptık. Küçük tüpümüzün üstünde çayımızın buharı yükselirken suyun sesi hepimize iyi geliyordu. Hava sıcaktı. Güneş kendini iyiden iyiye hissettirmeye başlamıştı. Dayanamayıp, ayaklabılarımızı çıkartıp derenin içine girdik.

Even though it was late May, the water was really cold and natural. We spent about an hour in the water. After we finished breakfast, we hit the road again.

Mayıs ayının sonlarında olmamıza rağmen su gerçekten de çok soğuk ve doğaldı. Suyun üstünde yaklaşık bir saat zaman geçirdik. Kahvaltımızı da yaptıktan sonra tekrar yola koyulduk.

It was impossible not to wonder where the name Pınargözü came from. The villagers named it Pınargözü because the powerful spring waters in the area emerge from between the rocks, just like an eye. It truly feels as if the water is peering out from the heart of the mountain. The video below shows how the water emerges from between the rocks.

Pınargözü isminin nereden geldiğini merak etmemek mümkün değildi. Bölgedeki güçlü kaynak sularının kayaların arasından adeta bir göz gibi çıkması nedeniyle köy halkı tarafından Pınargözü adı verilmiş. Gerçekten de su dağın kalbinden bakıyormuş gibi hissediliyor. We had reached the very source of the Pınargözü. Bozburun Mountain, rising directly across from us, looked magnificent. The light-colored rocks on its peaks stood like a giant wall, as if shaped by the wind and the passage of time over the years. Combined with the dark green forest cover on its lower slopes, the mountain looked like a layered painting created by nature’s own hand. Especially when looking at the points where it meets the sky, it gives one a sense of freedom.

Pınargözünün tam kaynağına ulaşmıştık. Tam karşıda yükselen Bozburun Dağı ise, muhteşem görünüyordu. Zirvelerindeki açık renkli kayalıklar sanki yıllardır rüzgarla ve zamanla şekillenmiş dev bir duvar gibi duruyor. Alt kısımlarındaki koyu yeşil orman örtüsüyle birleşince dağ, doğanın kendi elleriyle çizdiği katmanlı bir tabloya dönüşmüş gibi görünüyor. Özellikle gökyüzüyle birleştiği noktalara bakınca insana bir özgürlük hissi veriyor.

The most striking aspect of this mountain landscape is that, even though the mountain appears massive, imposing, and inaccessible, the villagers at its base go about their daily lives. The trees, houses, streams, and people have, in a sense, learned to live in its shadow. That is why what we see is not merely a mountain landscape; it also highlights the harmony between nature and humanity.

Bu dağ manzarasının en etkili yanı ise, dağ çok büyük heybetli ve ulaşılmaz görünsede eteklarinde köy halkı hayatına devam ediyor. Ağaçlar, evler, dereler ve insanlar onun gölgesinde yaşamayı bir nevi öğrenmişler. Bu yüzden gördüğümüz sadece bir dağ manzarası değil; aynı zamanda doğayla insanın uyumunu gözler önüne seriyor.

As we left Hasdümen that day, we took with us not only beautiful views, but also a deep sense of peace and a profound admiration for nature.

O gün Hasdümen'den ayrılırken geriye sadece güzel manzaralar değil, insanın içine işleyen huzur ve doğaya karşı bir hayranlık kaldı.
