All of us are dead (review)

Una serie sobre zombies bastante diferente, tanto por el origen del virus como por la trama en general. Lo que siempre he esperado de una película de estas, es el terror, y más que ello han demostrado acá la parte cruel de lo que es vivir un caos de esto, más que simplemente hacerle sentir al espectador temor.

A series about zombies quite different, both for the origin of the virus and for the plot in general. What I have always expected from a movie like this is terror, and more than that, they have shown here the cruel part of what it is to live a chaos of this, more than just making the viewer feel fear.

La razón por la que di con esta serie es muy obvia, aunque me sorprendió que no haya sido yo quien la escogiera ver sino mi pareja quien no es muy amante de las series coreanas, pero le fascina los zombies. Pero la razón más obvia es que esta serie se ha convertido en toda una sensación, e incluso está en el top 10 de las series más vista en mi país.

The reason why I found this series is very obvious, although I was surprised that it was not me who chose to watch it but my partner who is not a big fan of Korean series, but is fascinated by zombies. But the most obvious reason is that this series has become a sensation, and is even in the top 10 of the most watched series in my country.

Todo el ambiente caótico se da principalmente en el colegio, mismo lugar donde nace el virus creado por un profesor de ciencias, quien estaba buscando una fórmula para hacer más fuerte a su hijo, que según él necesitaba ser valiente y no dejarse llevar tanto por el miedo. Supongo que esa es la parte machista donde tienes que ser y demostrar ser "más hombre" que los demás, y bueno, algo que les ha llevado al total caos.

The whole chaotic environment is mainly at school, the same place where the virus was born, created by a science teacher, who was looking for a formula to make his son stronger, who according to him needed to be brave and not be driven so much by fear. I guess that's the macho part where you have to be and prove to be "more manly" than others, and well, something that has led them to total chaos.

Los secretos aquí como en todos lados tienen patas cortas, considerando que se intentó esconder el origen de este virus, el profesor en algún momento en su errar humano no iba a poder siempre prevenir que su mayor desgracia saliera a la luz, y no solo, sino que se propagara en el colegio y de este modo en la ciudad entera. Algo que obviamente sucedió, ya que se trata de un virus bastante contagioso y letal.

Secrets here as everywhere have short legs, considering that they tried to hide the origin of this virus, the teacher at some point in his human erring was not always going to be able to prevent his greatest misfortune to come to light, and not only, but to spread in the school and thus in the whole city. Something that obviously happened, since it is a very contagious and lethal virus.

En el transcurso de la serie vemos que este infortunado evento hace que muchas cosas se vayan dando de una manera poco habitual, como el hecho de tener que trabajar juntos para poder sobrevivir, traicionar para que otro sea la víctima mientras corres y un odio que te puede llevar a cometer asesinato solo por celos.

In the course of the series we see that this unfortunate event makes many things happen in an unusual way, such as having to work together in order to survive, betraying to make someone else the victim while running, and a hatred that can lead you to commit murder just out of jealousy.

Hay muchas decisiones que tomar a la hora de la supervivencia, y aquí se demuestra que el ser humano de por sí tiene ese instinto animal para sobrevivir; hacer lo que sea necesario para resguardar su vida y la de los que considera esa persona, deben y merecen vivir, cuando en realidad todos merecen vivir, nadie es culpable en este caso de la desgracia mayor que cometió dicho profesor de ciencias.

There are many decisions to make when it comes to survival, and here it is demonstrated that the human being has that animal instinct to survive; to do whatever is necessary to protect his life and the lives of those he considers should and deserve to live, when in fact everyone deserves to live, no one is guilty in this case of the major misfortune committed by the science teacher.

Vemos aqui intereses políticos de por medio también, y la falta de credibilidad ante un juramento por parte de los diferentes cuerpos de protección que creen que todo es fantasía de niños, cuando tal vez pudieron prever con ello el hecho de que un virus tan letal llegará a la ciudad, cuando todo realmente empezó en la escuela.

We see here political interests involved as well, and the lack of credibility before an oath on the part of the different protection bodies that believe that everything is a children's fantasy, when perhaps they could have foreseen the fact that such a lethal virus would come to the city, when everything really started at the school.

Pero viéndolo desde un punto más objetivo nos damos cuenta que toda acción conlleva a veces una terrible consecuencia, y es el hecho del bullying, que si bien es una serie de zombi y supervivencia a todo lo crudo posible, nos damos cuenta que tanto el origen de todo, como el transcurso de diferentes eventos se dan por el hecho de este mal. Ya sea por demostrar que eres mejor que otro, que eres la persona más débil con la cual se puede jugar a placer o el hecho de que seas pobre.

But looking at it from a more objective point we realize that every action sometimes entails a terrible consequence, and it is the fact of bullying, which although it is a series of zombie and survival to all possible crude, we realize that both the origin of everything, as the course of different events are given by the fact of this evil. Whether it is to prove that you are better than someone else, that you are the weakest person with whom you can play at will or the fact that you are poor.

Pudiéramos enfocarnos también en la crianza que ha tenido cada uno de estos jóvenes, tal vez una presidenta de colegio que es muy callada y hace lo sus padres le piden en totalidad; una joven que no tiene amigos vs alguien que tiene una facilidad increíble para hacer amigos y conocidos, al punto de ser molesto para alguien introvertido. Todos estos puntos son claves, porque estas personas cuentan una historia en medio de su supervivencia y demuestran ser quienes son realmente y todos sus sentimientos afloran una vez que están en el punto máximo, donde ya no hallan una salida e incluso piensan en el suicidio.

We could also focus on the upbringing that each of these young people has had, perhaps a school president who is very quiet and does what her parents ask of her in totality; a young woman who has no friends vs. someone who has an incredible facility for making friends and acquaintances, to the point of being annoying to someone who is introverted. All these points are key, because these people tell a story in the midst of their survival and show who they really are and all their feelings come to the surface once they are at the peak, where they no longer find a way out and even think about suicide.

Estos jóvenes tuvieron que hacerse adultos de un minuto a otro, en el sentido de tomar decisiones tan fuertes, planear cosas inimaginables para poder evitar ser devorados por la muerte, aún con la presión de pensar que no podrán sobrevivir todo el tiempo y que sus familias están allá fuera muertas.

These young people had to become adults from one minute to the next, in the sense of making such strong decisions, planning unimaginable things in order to avoid being devoured by death, even with the pressure of thinking that they will not be able to survive all the time and that their families are out there dead.

Una de las cosas que me encanta de esta serie es la variable del virus. Si bien entendí, no es el hecho de que existan personas que asimilan el virus y lo hacen parte de su cuerpo, como aprovechandolo pero sin convertirse del todo en un zombie, algo asi como Alice en Resident Evil. Pues si bien entendí, el virus responde a esa genética del miedo y la falta de valentía ante las situaciones. Alguien con sentimientos muy profundos de fuerza y tenacidad tal vez tiene (según mi juicio y lo que entendí) más probabilidades de convertirse en un semi zombie.

One of the things I love about this series is the virus variable. As I understood, it is not the fact that there are people who assimilate the virus and make it part of their body, like taking advantage of it but without becoming a zombie, something like Alice in Resident Evil. Well, as I understood, the virus responds to the genetics of fear and lack of courage in situations. Someone with very deep feelings of strength and tenacity may have (according to my judgment and what I understood) more probabilities of becoming a semi-zombie.

Dado es el caso de tres estudiantes, donde dos de ellos aprovechan estos "poderes" de fuerza y casi que inmortalidad para venganza. Mientras que la otra chica, presidenta aprovecha esto para ayudar a sus amigos, pero muchas veces se ve tentada a su nueva naturaleza que básicamente es saciar su hambre de carne humana.

Given is the case of three students, where two of them take advantage of these "powers" of strength and almost immortality for revenge. While the other girl, president, takes advantage of this to help her friends, but many times she is tempted to her new nature, which is basically to satiate her hunger for human flesh.

A de ser realmente difícil y agonizante tener que ver a tus amigos convertirse en zombie y más aún a tus padres. He aquí las múltiples duras pruebas que tienen que vivir estos estudiantes en su camino.

It must be really difficult and agonizing to have to watch your friends turn into zombies and even more so your parents. Here are the multiple ordeals that these students have to live through on their way.

Me gusto bastante el hecho de que no se enfocara en el terror, hubo compañerismo, amor, decepción, valentía, sacrificio y sobre todo esperanza por parte de estos estudiantes que básicamente lo han perdido todo como cualquier otra persona, pero quienes de cierto modo vivieron más de cerca todas las desgracias de este virus que se pensó había una forma de solución.

I quite liked the fact that it did not focus on terror, there was companionship, love, disappointment, bravery, sacrifice and above all hope on the part of these students who basically have lost everything like anyone else, but who in a way lived more closely all the misfortunes of this virus that was thought to have a way out.

Y ojo, que no se vea como esto como un spoiler, pero todos sabemos que donde hay zombies solo hay una cosa, una muerte segura donde no regresas a ser normal por nada del mundo. Se intentó en Resident evil y solo lograron volver inteligentes a los infectados, pero nunca volvieron a ser humanos. Tal es en este caso también, así que debe ser un real infierno.

And don't let this be seen as a spoiler, but we all know that where there are zombies there is only one thing, certain death where you don't return to normal for anything in the world. It was tried in Resident evil and they only managed to make the infected intelligent, but they never went back to being human. Such is the case here too, so it must be a real hell.

El final de esta serie fue espectacular, fue exactamente lo que yo quería, sabiendo que había que hacer sacrificios mayores pero que al final dejarán en claro algo, que no solo fue por la supervivencia sino que realmente estaban juntos, que todo lo que tuvieron que pasar hizo que esos lazos se unificarán más, y sobre todo, que se aprovechara esa variante del virus para hacer lo correcto.

The ending of this series was spectacular, it was exactly what I wanted, knowing that major sacrifices had to be made but that in the end they would make something clear, that it wasn't just for survival but that they really were together, that everything they had to go through made those bonds more unified, and above all, that they took advantage of that variant of the virus to do the right thing.

La esperanza nunca se pierde, y hay personajes aquí que lo demuestran, sobre todo un padre que está dispuesto a hacer lo que sea por proteger a su hija. Unos residentes como cualquier otro que quieren que todo acabe aun cuando está en juego su vida, y una persona que toma un riesgo humano fatídico que lo lleva al suicidio.

Hope is never lost, and there are characters here who prove it, especially a father who is willing to do anything to protect his daughter. Residents like everyone else who want it all to end even when their lives are at stake, and a person who takes a fateful human risk that leads him to suicide.

Por cierto, antes de que se me olvide, el aspecto de los zombies es algo fantástico, es muy gore y todo pero es realmente la esencia que se espera. Sobre todo por el hecho de que a veces me dio asco ver ciertas escenas donde se le ven órganos a las víctimas, así que los maquilladores se la ingeniaron muy bien.

By the way, before I forget, the look of the zombies is kind of fantastic, it's very gore and all but it's really the essence you'd expect. Especially because of the fact that at times I was grossed out watching certain scenes where you can see organs on the victims, so the makeup artists really nailed it.
