A visitor to the Jasmin plant.

(Edited)

Still cannot find out what it is, but will search for an ID.
005.jpg

A tiny guy about 4 millimeters long and we have seen one such before, but they are not in our insect book. Any idea what it is?

Edit: We found the name and they are called Twig Wilter nymphs, known in other countries as Leaf-footed bug.

We were making some changes to our garden and relocating some plants when I stumbled upon this little one. Some of our plants love the sun and others want only half day sun. The severe heat here lately has also damaged some and we took them out. We don't have a very big garden and it's easy to keep an eye on things.

A big round black screened eye was looking at me.
007.JPG

It will be good to know what it is.
014.JPG

This little Cape Dwarf Gecko (Lygodactylus capensis) at the bottom of the Guava tree was also keeping an eye on me.
029.JPG

031.JPG

And finally this Tropical House Gecko (Hemidactylus mabouia) visited us last night in our study.
038.JPG

Maybe he is a history fan and was having a look at my calendar.
040.JPG

Small discoveries while in the garden are always a pleasure and we have a wide variety of insect residents. That's why the dragonflies also like it here and they take care of the mosquitos and such.
We never use chemicals to kill anything and also not on the plants, as it is not good for the soil and birds like the Robins and the White-eyes eat the insects.
They are insect hunters and I will show the Robins in a later post clearing a batch of old bird seed of bugs.

Life is like a garden and be careful what you plant in your life.

And That's All Friends.

Oh yeah close, as we just found it and it's called Twig Wilters over here.
These are the nymphs and they look totally different to the adults.

I have never seen the first insect before but it looks so scary, I imagine it's sting would hurt.

No, they are harmless.

That is cool then, my mother has a garden and we have certain insects that sting so I avoid most insects I see.

I have those insects in the garden as well! They bunch together tightly and I presume the black ones are female, there are also green ones that are bigger. Or maybe the bigger one is the female! I will attach a photo I took a while ago (at least, I think its the same bugs?):

Thank you for the photo and they are called Twig Wilter nymphs. As you can see, they are totally different to the adults.

Thank you for the identification! They are everywhere, the adult insects. I have lots of amaranth (marog) growing and it seems like they have the likes for them!

My pleasure and Marog I know very well as we ate it on the farm in a mash with potatoes.
You must keep an eye out for the adult ones as they are beautiful and make great macro targets.

Thank you for reminding me of Marog. My gran used to make it and like said potato cubes were added to it. Also some onion and other stuff were in it. Really delicious stuff.

I think this will be my lunch sometime this week. Cubed potatoes, sweet pepper, onion, and marog! Thanks for this awesome memory you shared with me that triggered a recipe!

I have no idea what this little black insect could be, don't think I have ever seen anything like that here.
Aren't these both geckos? I just look at their fingers/toes and they look similar. Anyway, both look cute 😍

Good evening Hannes,

Hahaha, you got me my friend, as I was in hurry when I did the post because I was worried that the IT signal will disappear again.
So I went and did my homework and I found the proper names of everything as you will see in the edited post.

Gladly the signal stayed, but we have finally decided to move to one of the better signal companies.
So we went to the mall today and must now complete the forms for a 24 month account.
It is more expensive, but they have a great reputation and we will sacrifice to cover the extra expenses.

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

even with knowing the name Twig Wilter nymphs I have no idea what it is 😂 !LOLZ

I hope your new internet provider is worth the extra money.

Good early evening Hannes,

I think that all we need to know is that they are baby bugs 🤣 !LOLZ

They are one of the big two providers here and they come highly recommended because they have many towers all over the country. We handed the forms and the registration payment in today and now we have to wait for them to load us onto their system 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

yep, baby bugs, that sounds right to me 😂 !LOLZ

I wish you good luck with the new provider, and a big company should be able to deliver without problems.

A friend sent me a photo of an adult one and they are beautiful, but I don't know what I have done with the photo 😐

A big and expensive company my friend and for a few days per month we will only eat bread and drink coffee. But it doesn't matter as we simply cannot continue like this. Too much stressing.

Cheers and thanks.

I know you need a stable internet, but I don't think I would not give up food for a faster internet, although I also know how hard it is when you are offline without any chance to go online.

Internet is very essential for Marian to work with her students, as for instance today they had a 5 hour long master class. I am also communicating with our partner charities and many other contacts and then I also have hive.

So you can see how frustrating it is when one is engaged in a task or a conversation, or when Marian is busy marking an exam and all of a sudden the signal is gone. Then we don't only lose everything, but it also takes hours to get back on.
It happened so many times to us and now we have had enough my friend.
No more.

Cheers and thanks.

Yes, of course I know that you need a stable internet connection. When our network at the office sometimes doesn't work we can't do anything. I hope your new connection really works for you.

Good evening Hannes,

Baby bugs become big bugs, unless the Gecko's get them 🤣 !LOLZ

We collected the new modem and the Sim card today and I will install them as soon as the data is used up on this old one. They were very helpful at the sales desk and we have hope that it will negate our problems.

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

the bug babies should take care and later eat the Gecko babies 😂 !LOLZ

Great, good luck with the new connection 🤞

Good afternoon Hannes,

hahaha, everybody eats everybody 🤣 !LOLZ

On the new connection right now. Much faster than the old cheaper one and we will see how it goes.
But I am impressed thus far.

Cheers and thanks.

Good late afternoon, Zac,

but in the end one will remain ... or he eats himself 🤣 !LOLZ

I still remember the times when we switched to cable internet from the internet provider we have had before - it was amazing 😃

Hahaha, I think that's what they call extinction 🤣 !LOLZ

Oh yes, there is a big difference and you must have been surprised at the speeds.
We have cable here that was installed recently, and yes the speeds are double more than we are receiving, but it is way out of our pricing league. So we are limited to broadband.
But I am not complaining as we can get our work done with our service, unless it is unexpectedly cut off 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Cable internet is not much more expensive here than broadband internet and man it's fast. I have downloaded a full movie within a minute or two. No patience needed anymore 😂 !LOLZ

Hahaha, I know and I have to wait 3 minutes for every picture that I upload in a post. So a movie download will take a few few hours.
Much patience needed here 🤣 LOLZ

Hahaha, you are so funny Hannes. So you download Mad Max and the next day you see it is Cinderella and the 10 little pigs. (I think that's the name of the movie)

I will break my PC if that happens to me 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Wow! That must have been a real let down and I don't know what a splatter movie is, but just the name
does not sound very happy. You should rather stick to Goldilocks 🤣 !LOLZ

That's a kind of cheap, very cheap horror movie - much unreal blood and such things 🤢🤮
I had to google what Goldilocks is and you are very right - I would definitely prefer such a movie 😂 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.
