Amazing Drinks: Wedang Jahe ‘Ginger Drinks’

Hi bloggers and Amazing Drinks community! How are you? Today I’m going to share a warm drink that’s a little spicy and sweet. This warm drink is my version of the tastiest spiced drink, because it’s a favorite of both my dad and me. This drink is called ‘wedang jahe,’ which is popular in my country. It uses ginger as its main ingredient and is perfect for drinking during the rainy season or winter. Okay, let’s get right to it
Ingredients:
- 2 pieces of ginger
- 1 stalk of lemongrass
- 100 grams of Javanese palm sugar
- 5 cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 cardamom pods
- 1 liter water
- a pinch of salt
- a pinch of black pepper
Steps:


- Prepare all the ingredients, then roast the ginger until fragrant

- Peel the ginger using a knife or spoon, then set aside

Prepare the water and pour it into a pot
Turn on the heat


- Crush the roasted ginger using a mortar and pestle


- Add the ginger, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and cloves to the pot of water.


Prepare the Javanese palm sugar
Add it to the pot


Crush the lemongrass using a mortar and pestle, then tie it up and add it to the pot
Add a pinch of salt and black pepper


- Cook over medium heat until it comes to a boil

- Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for 7 minutes


- Turn off the heat, then strain the ginger drink into a glass

- Serve while warm


- The ginger drink is ready to drink
