Hello, everyone.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the hive learners' featured post. Volunteers are great contributors to the growth and development of a community, a city, a state, or a country.

Volunteers play a vital role in the development of most communities. These days, they are really hard to come by because our new generation now believes in nothing goes for nothing. Our generation expects to be rewarded for all of their good works. This makes it so hard to cross paths with volunteers these days.

For me, I will say volunteers are those who want to see other people happy, without expecting anything in return for their good deeds. While growing up, I never liked the idea of being a volunteer, but growing up with a dad who enjoys being a volunteer changed all of that.

Imagine your dad volunteering to help carry out a task and you refusing to do so. I just had to become one myself and it has helped me a lot. Being a volunteer helped me when I was in need, and this made me believe that the good we do is going to come back to us, one way or another.

Cases Where I Volunteered.

  • Helped Fill A Pothole On The Bridge: I traveled to the village with my dad in 2019. The bridge at the entrance of the village had a pothole at a very bad spot and no one cared. Not even the village youths did anything like it was expected of them. This pothole has been the cause of minor accidents, and still no one is looking into the matter. We arrived at the village at noon, had lunch prepared by relatives, and rested for a while. At around 4:30PM, my dad headed for the bridge. I followed him. We started something, and some other youths joined us along the line.

  • Volunteered To Visit An Orphanage: The youth from my church wanted to visit an orphanage for their youth week in 2021. They did not want to force anyone to be part of the visit, so they asked for volunteers. Who will contribute immensely. I volunteered to be part of the team (even as Sapa dy whine me 🥺). The visit helped me a lot because we met a man that gave us his card when I wanted to change my bank name and needed an affidavit. I didn't know how to go about it, so I made use of the card. This man, I don't even know, made calls and ensured I got what I was looking for.

  • On several occasions, I volunteered to be one of those who help keep the community clean. We cut the grass and picked up all the papers and nylons littered on the ground. This one was quite stressful as we were doing it every weekend back then, I still enjoyed doing so.

Thanks for reading my post.

Many people these days don't like volunteering because just as you said majority of people only do things they know they will benefit from. Aside that, people tend to spend more time on their phones and laptops these days and they no longer go out to mingle with people and offer help when the need arises

The love of money has clouded the mind of many.

You have really helped a community to avoid accident that would have occurred if the potholes were not filled up and you also made the orphanages smile by visiting them and in return, God made you solve your bank issues.

You have really done a great job, keep it up

You are really right ooo dear friend.

People now believes nothing goes for nothing!
Even in churches, Instrumentalists do not want to work for God for free anymore and also the vocalists!!!

Well, this post of your is well detailed in relation to the topic.
Keep it up!

The love of money has clouded the eyes of many and I am glad to see there are still people out there who are willing to do good.

@offia66 you’ve done very well. You volunteered to do something most people wouldn't want to do. Lots of cars passed that place and just ignored it. By filling that pothole, you definitely prevented more accidents from happening there.

Thanks for sharing.

(Edited)

Sometimes, the best thing about doing something good is knowing what the people you are doing it for will benefit from it. That is enough to put a smile on a face anytime.
